How do you know when you have had to much before it is to late.

Tried eating eggs this morning with just a few bites I became nauseated. Does this mean I have eaten to much? Also can you eat spinach? and fruits in the 4th week? Helppppppp.

I could eat absolutely anything in the 4th week, unfortunately. It wasn't until the 3rd or 4th fill I started to have stuck episodes. I haven't ever felt nauseous with eating, if I am getting too full, I will start with hiccups. If I push past that, it seems like I am suddenly making too much saliva and have trouble swallowing that. I still get a pain in my back if I get too full also...my band touches a nerve that does that to me.

It sounds like you can't tolerate eggs anymore. That happened to me after my first fill, I'm on my 3rd fill now and slowly getting able to eat very small amounts of scrambled eggs but still can't eat boiled or any other style eggs. Give it time, you could be able to eat them again in a couple of months or so.

I'd like to add that eventually you will discover your "soft stop" for me it is an involuntary sigh or recently it's coming up as a burp. Until then, you should measure your food and wait 1 minute between swallow and your next bite. If you feel full, you have eaten too much. Full for a bandster is simply the absence of hunger. You'll get use to it and in time, feeling full will become a bit uncomfortable.

eggs can be one of the hardest foods for bandsters to eat. But, it's mostly due to our old eating habits of eating too much, too quickly and not chewing enough. Learning to eat slowly with small bites and chewing to a mush could be one of the most difficult pieces of this puzzle for you to conquer.

You were likely banded with saline in the band, I had 3cc's put in mine during surgery. Getting full quickly sounds like you might still be a bit swolen, the determining factor for a fill is how long you stay full. If you can't make it at least 3 hours or you're experiencing poor weight loss you need a fill. The person who does the fill will be able to determine if you need one though. It's been my experience that I don't feel like I need one until about a week before one is due. You'll know when it's time...you'll be hungry often and will feel like you can eat anything and everything.

Some doctors like to fill on a schedule and some will fill as needed. I did a few on schedule and then pretty much let my body (and hunger) dictate when I needed any further fills. eggs are definitely a tough food for many bandsters to tolerate. I can barely get down very lightly poached eggs, but I rarely even try anymore. There is going to be a lot of trial and error for you to figure out what foods you can and cannot tolerate over time. Be prepared to give up some loved foods (even if healthy). You'll eventually get to the point where food isn't much about taste and just something you need. You'll know when you're there. ;)

I almost never eat in the morning. If you're really tight in the morning then just drink liquids until lunchtime. As for knowing when I'm full, I usually eat VERY slowly so it's easy to figure it out. I make sure to put my utensil down between each bite and chew chew chew.

I am the same and I do not have any saline in my band. My doc said she has had a couple of people that never need a fill because the presence of the band is enough.

I am pre band (early December) and know for a fact I eat and swallow way too fast. I used to eat slow 12-13 years ago and family/friends would gripe about me eating too slow. Since then, I tended to eat faster -- since everyone is always in such a hurry. However, band or not, I think eating slowly allows the brain to catch up and recognize what the stomach is already experiencing-being full.

Hi coach. I always ate slow too. However, I realized that what I thought was eating slow is nothing compared to how slow I must eat with the band. Since my last fill, I have had the worst stuck episodes ever and I know it's because I forget to eat slowly. In addition, I am unable to eat bread or rice. But if I'm losing weight, I don't really care about starches even though I loved them.

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
