I have no desire for protein shakes

Recommended Posts

Before surgery I tried a few and new which ones I'd use but now 2 days post op I mix one up and I can't bare to finish it. Tastes gross... I'm so tired and sore and this gas pain in my shoulder is annoying the crap out of me. I am living off of maybe 3/4 cups of Protein Shake a day and then Jello, crystal light, and Popsicles :( will I be ok?

Hey girl! I'm surprised your docs have you on Protein shakes. I had surgery on Monday and I'm not starting them until maybe tomorrow. So, I'd say you'll be fine.

I'm having trouble today with nausea. The gas pains haven't been bad but I am so "woofy" I can't bare to drink anything. The doc's called me in some anti-nausea meds so lets hope they work.

Good luck, girl! :)

You need to get some Protein shots - they are Clear liquids, not full liquids like Protein shakes. If they are still too thick for you, then add them to Water to make it like a juice. You just had surgery, you're going to feel like crap that was run over by a Mack truck. It get's better and you'll love your band as much as I love my Miss Pearlie...she's helped me lose very well in the last 3 months we've been together.

Chin up...this is the toughest part of the journey, look for the light at the end of the tunnel...it's really close now.

Don't feel bad if you go through a couple of days of not wanting to eat anything...I did that and it didn't hurt me.

I'm two weeks post op and I'm still having the left shoulder pain, but I have read that it can be from the vagus nerve that goes from your diaphragm to your left shoulder and it gets irritated during surgery.

I did exactly the same about the Protein shakes and I'm with you, I have the hardest time getting them down, I have to really Water them down, if they are the least bit thick it makes me gag!

I am 3 days post op and I am using Unjury unflavored Protein mix. I put it in my broth this morning and made Jello with it for this evening. This has been the only way to get in my required protein and fluids. Good luck!!

I just went to GNC and got Isopure. LIFE CHANGER. Tastes like juice (slight after taste but totally worth it for getting in the protein!)

The alpine punch? Mix with crystal light fruit punch and it doesn't have any after taste! It changed my whole mindset

What flavors did you get from Isopure?
Alpine Punch, Blue Raspberry, pineapple Orange banana, & Mango Peach. Raspberry was good but not delicious but MUCH better than anything I've tried so far.

I went out and bought the Isopure drinks, if it weren't for the fact that you get a whopping 40 grams of Protein in one bottle, I wouldn't have bought them. Pros: they are tart and not a whole lot of aftertaste, I like them not being thick and sweet, they are lactose free, aspartame free, & gluten free. They are lower in calories than Boost, the Isopure has 160 calories for 20 oz bottle. Cons: HOLY COW AT THE COST! I bought a GNC Gold Card just to get a discount, the regular price per bottle was $5.39, with the card $4.31 PER BOTTLE!!! So needless to say, I'm savoring mine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
