June 2006 Band Crew

Hello Junbies ......

I haven't seen a June Band Crew thread yet so thought I would start it :) .

I'll be banded on June 9th in Texas. I'm getting very excited about it. I know that the band is just a "tool" to aid in my weight loss journey and it will take a lot of hard work on my part to make it successful. I've been overweight my whole life with the earliest memories being around age 4. Although no one else in my family is overweight, I am extremely fortunate to have full family support in my decision. I know that there are many people who's family doesn't offer the support they need. I would love to meet other pre-bandsters being banded in June to walk with me to the banded side of life and offer each other support.

I wish you all the best.

Melissa Lea :hippie:

Congrats Barbara!!! I do know how excited it is to be almost at onederland. I feel like onederlander is eluding me at the moment. So close yet so far away. I know one thing....we can do it!!!

I can see that Melissa. You have only 3.5 lbs. You will make it soon. Even though I went into this very positive I guess a part of me didn't believe I could really achieve this. Now that I start seeing real results I am getting excited.

I'm sending some of my clothes to another lapbander who wears my former sizes. Do you hear me, former sizes. Since I know I willl NEVER need them again I might as well let go of them. However, I have about 12 bags still in the garage yet to give away. :)

Congrats Barbara. Ditto on the weather. Don't know how I stood Michigan winters for 17 years.

I made 2 miles on my walking DVD today and kinda wish I had stopped at 1.5. It'a a bummer to have creaky bones.

There is a new Bigelow Tea called Vanilla Carmel. I put one pkg of sweet n low and some coffeemate in my microwaved hot water. How do you spell d-e-s-s-e-r-t? I'm getting away from using the raw sugar with all these new flavored teas. Yeah!

Drat, all that lovely tightness is diminishing. I was counting on getting on the losing track. So far I'm at 191.5. I'll change my ticker back up if I'm not down to 190 by Wednesday. Name it claim it is a good philosphy, but there does come a point when it just ain't so.

I hear you Pinky!! I got on the scale this morning and up 2 pounds. I haven't changed a thing about how/what I've been eating since I last weight. However, for the first time since being banded I'm experiencing some constipation. I think it's due to a bit dehydration. Since it's gotten really cold here in Texas I'm not drinking as much water. HUGE MISTAKE!!

Ok --you know how when people lose all their weight they go and get the big make over. Well, I decided not to wait until I lose all my weight. I went on Saturday and had a make-up, make over. Why not look good until I reach my goal. Spent a bit over $300 dollars on new products and some new application brushes. In the Spring, I think I might do something with my hair, but I have not decided that yet.

Well, I'm loving this cold weather. Just got back from the grocery store. I'm cooking Turkey Chili tonight (with extra beans).

Talk to you all later.

Maybe that's what we should do in Vegas - make overs!!! Most will be at or near goal. We could come back as hussey women! I am a great proponent of living your life each day and not "waiting" for the untils ... Glad you had a makeover. I'm sure it made you feel better.

Hi Everyone - been away for a few days - it is so cold here in the Seattle area!!! And more snow predicted for tonight and tomorrow. Yuck!

I am flying to Sacramento California tomorrow on a business trip. This will be my first business trip since banding and I am kind of nervous about eating and drinking properly. I haven't lost any weight in a long time and that is discouraging. I have kept a food log on fitday.com and I am taking in an average of 1136 calories per day and 99 grams of protein and all of my water but the scales are not moving. I have not been able to take my walk in days because of the nasty weather and all I can figure is that is the reason for no weight loss. I sure hate plateaus!

Lucy, DS has a theory that you do lose while on a plateau. Inches. That's what it's all about. Good luck on business trip. Pack a few protein bars or a lo-carb slimfast or two. I did on the last trip and it was helpful.

Makeovers? Maybe we should fly to Thailand and check out the PS stuff?

Had soup for dinner and I'm positively sloshing. Reminds me of post surgery days when soup was all we got for days on end.

I agree about the plateaus, Pinky. I lost 15 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Only now that I'm slowing way down again, my size has dropped and I'm getting comments from everyone noticing the shrinkage.

Cathy - good to hear from you again and congrats on the holiday loss. You must have met your Christmas goal. I do so want to make my anniversary goal, but I'd settle for a looser waistband in my new pantsuit!

You and Barbara inspire me to do better tomorrow.

Thanks Pinkylee - I guess I need to take my measurements because I am really discouraged. I try to tell myself that if I am following the program I will lose eventually but I am scared that I will/have stopped and this is all I am going to lose.

Cathy - wow! on the weight loss! Keep up the good work!

Lucy,

I am also afraid of reaching that final plateau, but I think we are a little early in for that. I'm certain it's activity level that's working against us right now. At least my hair isn't falling out any more.

Barbara --I had a make over in Vegas several years back. And trust me, I did look like a hussey when I left that place. I was so embarassed.

Melissa Lea

Hi everybody. I have had the most nerve wrecked day/ week. It was a week ago that I rolled my car and now the insurance wants to give me about $4500 less than book value and about $2000 less than I owe on the car. It is killing me bacause with DH just getting back to work I have no way to get another car. I would understand if I were in a negative equity situation but I am not. I just dont know what to do. People tell me that this is negotiable but they just arent giving in. I really dont want to have to pay a lawyer but I am afraid it may come down to that. Today DH took me to the chiropractor and then I had to drive in the snow to take my DD for a physical. It was the most scared I have been of driving in the snow since I moved to Michigan in 95. I even started crying once. While I had the doc in the room I asked her about some issues I have been having and now I have to go for an ultrasound. I really dont need anything else to go wrong. Needless to say I have been stress eating badly. Good thing there isnt any junk in the house.

Weather is big issue over the country. Houston is getting record cold temperatures and still in threat of icy conditions. How does the band react? I am down with this cold so I don't know if it is the cold or cold. I haven't been too hungry, can't taste, and can't seem to get my water in. I am able to have a cup or two of hot tea throughout the day. I am trying to get my protein in as my hair is not falling out at the rapid rates of before.

I went to a new support group meeting last night near my home. One lady showed up. However, she and I had lots in common so now I have another friend to share this journey. It is so nice to find others that you can relate to and like as people. Barbara 12 and PinkyLee are two more. I am so grateful for the face to face meetings as well as the friendship found in our Junebies group.

Hope everyone is doing well. The countdown has begun as we are less than 6 months away from Vegas. PM me and let me know you are coming if you haven't done so. I want to get a count so I can start making some arrangements and exploring our options.
