June 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

This new edit thing is scarey!!!

Barbara4 - Thanks for the reminder on the pics. I'm packing anything that glitters and doesn't wrinkle in my closet!!! The sexy shoes have to stay home. I twisted someting in my foot yesterday. It's fine today, but I took it as a warning.

I asked my hairdresser for a "few" highlights today. Gals, look for a lot of blond in this dark head of mine. DH liked it, and teased me about going to Vegas as a blond.

Regina - What a transformation! I thought the 2003 pic of you might be a current one of your Mom b4 I read the post! You definitely don't look fat.

Viva Las Vegas is right Barbara12!

Socalgal I'm guessing no news is good news on the fill Monday?

Well, the fill was fine as far as the doc said the band and pouch looked good. He gave me .6cc and I am still on liquids, so I haven't had a chance to "test" the fill. It doesn't feel tight at all, so I am hopeful.

How many pictures are we bringing Barb?

Everyone send positive vibes to Lucymann, wherever she is!

I went for a free consultation with the hypnotist yesterday! I may do it!

I'm anxious to hear about the hyposis. I tried that years ago and it worked.........but like all diets I've tried, as soon as I quit the weight came back. But now with this new tool we have it might really be a good thing.

<p>Hi Ladies:</p> <p> </p> <p>As I mentioned since I made my one year on June 13th and lost 45 pounds, I set a new goal to get as close to 200 as possible for September. September 15th is my brother's wedding in San Francisco and I wanna look really good!</p> <p> </p> <p>I weighted myself today and Iam now down to 240 so I lost 5 pounds and its now 50 lost !</p> <p> </p> <p>Also as I mentioned on Monday I went back to the gym and Iam loving it!</p> <p> </p> <p>Today I asked one of the trainers to show me how to program the special weight loss cycle on the treadmill. You put in your weight , the trail you want to follow, the incline, speed and the how long you want to workout for.</p> <p>She put all the information in for me and then left me on my own.</p> <p> </p> <p>It was cool, we set it for an hour, at a speed of 3.0,incline went from 2.0 up to 3.5 and I was on a hiking trail. It monitored my heart rate which for a 37 years old is 130-140, I went up to 136 so I was in range.</p> <p> </p> <p>I ended up after the hour doing 2.5 miles!<img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/clap2.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Clap2" smilieid="217" class="inlineimg" /></p> <p> </p> <p>Then once again I walked home only because I craved coconut iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts!</p> <p> </p> <p>It feels so good to be really working out again like this! I mean I was exercising at home and walking but this to me is really working out!</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>*** In reference to all the post of before and after pictures: Wow, Wow and Wow!</p> <p> </p> <p>*Barb 465, My anniversary buddy: You look great! I liked the comment you said your boss gave you about the badge and the picture looking so different. Maybe now he will let you take a new one! Enjoy Vegas you deserve it !</p> <p> </p> <p>Regina- The June Crew Weight Loss Queen!:</p> <p>(I say it with losts of love and admiration)</p> <p>Your my inspiration, I look at those pictures and I can not believe that your the same person! Wow, Wow, Wow!</p> <p> </p> <p>Socal- You are so pretty! You go Girl! Looking Good!</p> <p> </p> <p>Anyone else I missed , Iam sorry but, Wow this June Crew really kicked ass with our weight losses!</p> <p> </p> <p>You all leave for Vegas tomorrow<img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/cry.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Think" smilieid="15" class="inlineimg" />!</p> <p> </p> <p>Please if anyone is bringing a laptop keep us informed of what is happening ! </p> <p> </p> <p> I so wish I could have went, but Iam hoping maybe next year, since my son will have finished kindergarden by the end of June and maybe I can talk hubby into taking some time off so I can go away with just the girls!</p> <p> </p> <p>Have fun ladies, take lots of pics to post for us who can't go.</p> <p> </p> <p>ABOVE ALL HAVE A SAFE TRIP!</p> <p> </p> <p>Love,</p> <p>Lisa</p> <p></p>

Thanks Lisa!

Barb- The hypnotist gives you CDs to take home as well, so I think even if it wears off after some time, you can play the CDs at home for a boost. It's worth a shot to get these last pounds off.

Does everyone else have to log in every time they visit LBT? I do! Even if I say "Remember Me". I never had to do that in the past. I know they are trying to improve the site, but all the changes are frustrating!

I'm also searching for a way to get "back on track" without doing another fill. I've thought about all sorts of things. Guess a fill might not be such a bad idea if I can just remember to follow instructions !!!

We'll look for a way to log in while we're in Vegas.

Positive thoughts to Lucymann!

We never heard from Lucymann. She already sent money to Barb for the Celine Dion tickets, so we are hoping she is ok. I think she was having vericose vein surgery last month. Hopefully, she just forgot and is doing great. I am off to the airport!

Pinky:

When I was in FA( food Addicts Anonymous) a few years ago before surgery we followed the food plan guidelines in Kay Sheppard's book " Food Addiction the Body Knows".

When I was on it I had lost 35 pounds in three months!

The Rules:

*Avoid all forms of sugar: sucrose, frustose, corn sweetners, dextrose, honey, Syrup. Anything containing sugar such as soft drinks, cereals, seasoning, sauces etc.

* Abstain from all forms of flour: Pasta, bread, pizza, crackers, bagles, pita bread, including wheat grains. Whatch for flour within products such as corn starch.

* Eliminate all high fat-foods: nutsand fried foods.

*Avoid all forms of chocolate including sugar-free.< /span>

* Avoid all alcohol beverages!

The food plan :

Breakfast:

1 Dairy Selection

1 Protein Selection

1 Grain Selection

1 fruit Selection

Lunch:

1 Protein

1 Raw Vegetable

1 Cooked Vegetable

Dinner:

1 Protein

1 Raw Vegwtable

1 Cooked Vegetable

1 Starchy Vegetable or Grain

Before Bed:

1 Dairy and 1 Fruit

Daily:

1 Tablespoon of Oil

1 oz. Sauce( optional)

1 Tablespoon Spice

6 servings Sweetners(optional)

* The rest of the information about the food plan you can get from her site WWW.KAYSHEPPARD.COM

I was following this plan right after I had surgery from June 13th until October 25 and lost 40 pounds! I then got my first fill on October 25th.

Then I just followed my old Weidht Watchers plan books.< /span>

Right now Iam going back to basics and Iam upping my exercise routine to three times a week at the gym.

I hope that maybe this might also help you out.

Love and friendship,

Lisa

Thanks Lisa -

Back from Vegas and ready to start another year with the band.

It was amazingly funny! We have pictures and that's all I'm staying. there is no doubt I am the one who would like for some things to "stay in Vegas". DH calls Vegas an amusement park for adults and that's about how it went. We came to have fun and man did we! We also saw Celine's show - a performance to remember!

There is no doubt that we should do this again.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
