Recommended Posts

I had my surgery today and Walgreens pharmacy was out of my prescribed liquid pain pills... Is liquid Tylenol ok? My doctors office is closed or else I would give them a shout! Any advice is helpful.

It is best to ask your doc but my doc and all the post I've read said Tylenol was ok. In liquid or pill.

Yes, tylenol is a good replacement for your pain medicine. Unfortunately, though, it isn't as good for pain.

My Doc had Oxycodone with infused Tylenol for me. Used it only twice 1st day post-op and a total of four nights at bed time.

Ibuprofen seems to be a no no, but tylenol is OK.

After surgery on the (150 mile) drive home, we came into bad weather (rain/lightening) and stayed in a hotel for the night. All I had was liquid Tylenol (bubble gum flavored children's (up 12)). I had one dose (30cc or full medicine cup) and that was it for the next 28 hrs until we got home. I was up nearly every 2 hrs to urinate and while up I would walk up laps in the room.

Its 10pm now, but if that pharmacy is a 24 hr Wal-Greens another option would be to have them contact any other 24 hr pharmacy closest to your location and either see if they have the medication & have them transfer to whomever/where-ever is the closest.

-I would contact them ASAP to attempt this & your family member may have to actually go pick the original script up and hand deliver to another 24 hr location.

--- best of luck

I will spay a prayer for you!

NO Advil (ibuprofen), NO Alieve, NO Aspirin... no NSAIDS!

Tylenol is not an NSAID (non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug)

You can google the info!

Do not hesitate to call your doctor!!!

There will always be a doctor "on call" and it is not that late. It may be your doctor or another doctor in his practice. His office number should dispatch you to an answering service. Whomever is on call can make a recommendation.... reality, this has happened before and they have protocol.

My doctor has someone on call 24/7 from his team. Give a call you have nothing to lose.

Oh girl I feel for you, I lived on my Percocet for the first few days, I had a bad hernia repair and I was in a lot of pain. Like above post find another Walgreens that is open now and have them transfer it and go pick it up, you will need it.

Thanks all. Never realized how lucky I am, but my very loving boyfriend made a trip to Walgreens 3 different times last night. He picked up some children's Tylenol that helped with the headaches and allowed me to sleep. Walgreens called this morning and had my prescription changed to something they has in stock. So I should be getting that shortly!

My doctor actually recommended ibuprofen with my pain med (liquid Lortab). He said it would help the most with the port incision pain. I'm wondering why all your doctors have said no NSAIDS? Is it because of ulcer risks? The Lortab/ibuprofen combo was a huge relief to me those first couple of days!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
