Keep reporting back those of you who have had surgery already! We want to know how you're doing! Good luck to those going soon!

Got my sleep study results back and yes, I need a cpap. I stopped breathing over 11 times in one hour. Eek! I had no idea I snored, either. I did a split study (half without cpap, half with) and without the cpap I had only 19 min of REM sleep, but with the cpap I had two sessions of hour long REM! What a difference! My body went into lighter sleep to get me to breathe again.

Pre-op diet: I was so famished today that when I downed my Protein Drink I just LOVED it! I can't wait to eat somewhat normal food again. What I would give for scrambled eggs or just a slice of deli ham with cheese! Or the raspberries in my fridge!! This diet sure makes me appreciate good food!

I had a very stressful day at work, glad tomorrow is Friday!

Good luck to all getting banded it seems like many of you are starting your journey tomorrow ! Tomorrow marks a week for me I have not really been hungry until today, can't wait for puréed tomorrow. I stopped taking pain meds on Tuesday instructed from my surgeon but my port has been more sore than anything. I'm glad I took off work until the 18th I needed it. I just wanna head back to the gym !! Not sure when I should, I guess ill know when my body feels right. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask of course !

I am scheduled for surgery today - Friday the 13th (lol). I was previously scheduled for surgery yesterday but it had to be cancelled because of an emergency with my surgeon. So - I'm nervous but I'm looking forward to my new life!

Things I'm looking forward to:

1. Being able to sit on the floor & get up gracefully (lol).

2. Looking in the mirror and not seeing that second chin.

3. Feeling full.

4. Being able to bend over to buckle a sexy shoe/sandle.

5. Having less pain from carrying this weight around.

6. Not being the most overweight girl at my office.

7. Being

7. But the best things of all - comments from everyone ! "You look great" "look at you - you've lost so much weight" and from my husband: "you're hot" (let me just say here - my husband and I have a great relationship and we are very close - he's my biggest inspiration and he doesn't say anything about my weight at all. But I know that he has to notice it.)

I'm doing this to look better & feel better & I'm taking charge of my health right now & putting myself first for once! So- I will post afterwards to let you all know how I'm doing. For me - since I've been on this forum I read the posts from everyone and how they have done after surgery and the days after that to get an idea about how it might be for me. Telling your story (no matter what the progress is or what stage you are in) helps someone else! You all have helped me through this and I read your posts for information and a little guidance - so I'm thanking all of you who've read what I have to say and have commented or just liked them!

I'm going to get my lapband today! Going to get my lapband today! I'm going to get my lapband today! Yea!!!!!!!!!

Don't freak out..I know easier said then done. I had surgery last Friday, and surprised how well I feel. I have been taking it easy sleeping when I need to..check it's surgery, but after having a c.section, 2 normal births, 2 foot surgery, appendectomy, and 2 Carole tunnel releases, this was the easiest.

My port site is so sore, is my only complaint, and as if to day since day of surgery I have lost 13 lbs...not typical..I know, and weightloss will slow down soon, but I will take it.

Also total I went from350 in April to today 311....I was cleaning my closet top shelf and saw a shirt I threw up there cuz it didn't fit any more..today put it on...fits like it did when I bought it.. It needs to be ironed but I don't care...IT FITS!!!!! :-)

I'm on cloud 9.. Today is my pre op visit.. So I get to know my next food items..

Congrats on getting banned today. I was originally scheduled for Friday the 13th then my doctor rescheduled for yesterday. Glad its over with.

I was out for most of the day yesterday and today I'm still at the hospital. As a matter of fact I STILL haven't drank yet. I'm waiting to take a swallow test to make sure everything will go down smooth. Luckily I'm not too hungry or thirsty. My IV has been sustaining me :)

I love your list of the changes you are looking forward to. Sending positive vibes your way. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Get plenty of rest and keep us all posted.

Well - I am scheduled for the 19th. I am excited. But I seem to be ok with everything. Just waiting till it gets here. I went out and splurged the day before I started the pre-op diet. Went to Golden Corral. And the day before that I had a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. But I am doing fine now. Got all my wants out of the way. On my pre-op diet I can have 1 meal a day.... Breakfast = Protein shake; lunch - protein shake; dinner = 6-8 oz meat, 1 cup veggies, 1 cup fruit. Fun fun fun!! So far I am doing ok on it. Afernoons I get leg aches from not eating - but sure feel good after my dinner :-)

This is a good idea, a list of what we are looking forward to!!

1. Buying shoes other than MBTs. I love these shoes because of my plantar fasciitis, but I want cute shoes!!

2. The reaction of my in laws (who live in another country). They won't believe their eyes! PS I was 300+ when I visited them this summer.

3. Snuggling my daughter in her twin bed without taking up the whole bed.

4. Having enough energy to work out before work.

5. Looking like my grandmother again.

6. Being thin enough to pull off a new, shorter hairdo that will look great!!

7. Being unafraid of dying from fatty liver disease, diabetes, or other obesity related disease that runs in my family.

8. Running a whole 5k race without stopping all the time!

9. After this 3 week super restrictive pre-op diet, I am looking forward to a cup of chicken broth with green onions and mushrooms, and then someday some scrambled eggs!!! I am really craving the stuff from my low carb diet.

10, Being able to walk in to any store and buy a pretty blouse. In size L or M!! No Xs on the label!! I am sick and tired of Lane Bryant and Avenue.

Thinking up this list was so much fun! Who's next? What do YOU look forward to?

Afternoons I get leg aches from not eating - but sure feel good after my dinner :-)

I am getting exhausted (yawning, need to sleep for sure) when I am hungry, then a huge burst of energy after eating. Anyone else?

Thanks for all of the good vibes & well wishes from everyone! I had surgery um I'm in lots of pain from gas. I feel as though I was hurried out of the surgery center a little too early. My trip home was very uncomfortable. The incisions don't really hurt that bad, it's the gas. I've gotten my medicine and have been taking pain meds & the gas drops. So now that I don't feel as loopy I'm going to start walking around my house to see if that will help.

I know that this will get better over time & it's bearable, but not fun! Ice chips for me are better than the sips because they are sorta controlled "sips" plus it helps dry mouth too (at least for me). My husband got me a cup of ice from convenient store on the way home & a Water. I was so thirsty and I think I was drinking Water a little fast - that's why I'm going with the ice chips;)

Basically for all our friends waiting to get banded - it's ok. It hurts (not going to lie), but it honestly is bearable; I'll let you know as things go! Thanks again to all of you - you are inspiring me ;)

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
