How long did it take you to reach your goal?

Recommended Posts

I'm 16 months out and have lost 74 pounds. I'd like to lose between 32 and 42 more. I'd like to hit my goal by December which will be my 2 year anniversary. I'd like to know how long it took everyone to hit your goal weight.

I've not hit my goal yet but I'm hoping to be there by Christmas.

So far, I've lost 222 pounds over the last 18 months.

Just remember, everyone loses at their own pace. It doesn't matter how fast or slow you get there, all that matters is that you're losing.

WOW! Congrats on both of you - that is amazing!

I will be 1 year next week and have lost between 70-78 depending on the day. I did have a goal of 170 but now think I want to be less than that. I think I will be around 130-140 in 1 1/2-2 years. It took more than a few years to get big so I know it will a while to get thinner.

Staying healthy is very important to me

I have had and met 2 goals (that I had set)...and continued to loose after each one....

What I had learned is that since this is not a diet that you can turn on or off, and if you are truly utilizing the band, then this is a new permanent lifestyle, with a whole new way of eating both in types of food and in quantity of food that becomes part of you, second nature and not a list of do's and don't s, the body will slowly and continually loose weight and then stop on it's own when it feels it has reached a point of equilibrium....not my goal, but where the body should be for a healthy normal individual........

Just as we slowly and continually gained weight and get fat by eating wrong and too much for so many years, the reverse will happen once the band takes over........

Even though I thought I was at my goal, I continued to loose weight and then settled out...I have not lost, or gained any weight in over a year, without giving it any thought or effort on my part.........

My Dr. informed me at my last visit, based upon my total body fat %, that I have reached a point where there is no longer any excess weight to loose, and that my weight loss journey is complete.....if I were to loose any more weight, it would be a sign that I am loosing something other than fat, a sign I am not getting my daily Protein, and a sign that it would a unhealthy situation...a true starvation mode unlike the unrealistic one overweight people worry about.

The Band truly has changed , and saved, my life.....

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
