Getting REALLLY Nervous! Getting Banded on 7/26/13!

Recommended Posts

I am getting banded on July 26th and needless to say, I am wayyyy nervous! All these thoughts are running through my head and I can't make them stop. I am a 26 year old, low BMI bander (BMI 32) looking to regain control of my eating habits before it is way to late! Both my parents have had LapBand for 2-3 years...so I know majority of the ups and downs. However, that is not calming my sense of nervousness!

Any tips/advice/etc. to help calm my nerves!

Thanks in advance!

It is normal to be nervous before any surgery. Just keep you eye on the prize. The tool to help you. I hope you have started to make life changes already. Anything you do prior to surgery will only help. I cut out soda and white flours. Good luck.

Think of all the positive reasons you're doing this. I know it's easier said than done but try to not let any negative thoughts in your mind. Don't worry about something that doesn't exist. Don't feed your fears.

Everything will be fine. :)

I was really nervous before my surgery too, I was having second thoughts and afraid it wouldn't work for me all kinds of things and I couldn't shut it off I even posted in here about it. But I found out that it was normal for a lot of people to be nervous or have second thoughts. It came and went for a little while and then it passed and I moved on and had the surgery. I believe I was nervous about the surgery the day before. Don't worry I don't know what your fears are but I'm sure everything will work out. Like suebee01 says keep your eye on the prize.

Don't worry. I had second thoughts before surgery as well. I was about 38 bmi, not quite 40 bmi. But my primary doc and I had a long talk and we both thought it was a good idea. Before surgery you start thinking, is this the right thing to do? I won't be able to enjoy big meals anymore, etc. I'm just 42 days after surgery, and loving it so far. You will still enjoy foods. But the best is eating and feeling satisfied, rather than that "I ate too much, and now feel terrible" feeling. I haven't even gotten my first fill yet, but I can feel a big difference. I hope you will love it too. Good luck!

I'm in the exact same boat txgirl!! I get my surgery the same day as you but here in Arizona. Scared to death, but ready at the same time. Tomorrow morning is my EGD and I'm not looking forward to that, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right? I'm at the low end of the BMI but need to take control before it takes control of me.

I'm in your corner and we can do this together if you'd like. Best of luck to you. I bet neither of us will be sleeping come Thursday night...! Write back if you need a buddy. I'll be here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
