So tomorrow will be three weeks post-op, and since my surgery I have lost around 7 lbs. I feel like that isn't much though? I am really hoping to be down 30lbs by August 15th from where I am now..Unrealistic?

Thanks, Chloe.

Everyone is different. For me I was banded May 28th, and I have lost 18 pounds so far that is with pre and post-op. It is possible for you to lose what you want to, people have, but it is also possible to follow all the rules and not lose it. You'll just have to see how your body reacts to your new situation. Good luck

~~~Stephanie
Hi Chloe. Stept is being kind but I'm gonna tell you the truth. You are not going to lose another 23 lbs. in a month. That's nearly six lbs. a week and it's totally unrealistic. All the data states that weight loss should be between 1-2 lbs. a week. Don't set unrealistic expectations because otherwise you will feel like a failure when you are not. You've lost 7 lbs. in three weeks. That's fantastic. If you can lose another 4-8 by the middle of August, that will be great and more importantly...it's very do-able.
I agree with go walking, Lapband is not a lose weight quickly type of tool. Your seminars and your psych evaluation should have told you that. My psychologist even warned me that I could gain all my weight back if I didn't listen and follow instructions to the letter. The Lapband is merely a tool that makes you eat less. It is a gradual weight loss of 1-2 lbs a week. It's not drastic like you might see in some weight loss surgeries. I'd rather gradually lose it than rapidly lose it. If I lose weight too quickly, I'm probably going to gain it back quickly. You will have to watch what you eat for the rest of your life. I don't deprive myself either but I log every calorie I eat in my fitness pal. It keeps me accountable for whatever goes in my mouth.
Don't get discouraged either, if you're doing everything right the weight will come off slowly but surely. Welcome to the world of Lapband!
:-)
@chloe: I am also 3 weeks post op and I have also lost about 7 pounds. I agree that this is not enough! Not happy right now. Plus, I am hungry all the time. The good news is that I get my second fill tomorrow. So, my fingers are crossed!
Some wise person on this blog said it took time to put it on, it will take time to take it off. It's slow & steady. I feel the need for instant success but one step at a time.
      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???
        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!
      2. LadyVeteran1
        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
