I am on day 5 of my pre-op diet and surgery is set for 7/29. My doctor instructed me to drink 2 Protein shakes a day and have a light dinner consisting of a lean Protein, 1 cup fruit and 1 cup green veggies. I can't stand the taste of the regular protein so I put 1/2 a cup of fruit in each one and that counts as my 1 cup if fruit per day. It has been hard, but I limit myself to no more than 2 sf jellos a day, and I only eat those when my stomach hurts. I also walk about 30-45 minutes a day and i am constantly on my feet at work.

My concern is that I have only lost a few pounds, and when I read other posts, I see that people have lost 15+ pounds on their diets. I know I am only 5 days in and have 9 more to go, but is there anything extra I can be doing to help with the weight loss?

Just stay with it. The weight will come off. I started a pre pre op diet 5 weeks before surgery and for the first 2 weeks the scale didn't budge. I was doing something similar to what you are doing now. Then in the 3rd week it dropped 5lbs. Then in 2 week pre op diet I was on I lost another 12.

Sounds like you are doing all the right things for the plan you're on. The results will come!

Thanks for the reply. My doctor only ordered a 2 week pre-op diet so I hope the weight starts coming off soon.

Mine too - I just knew I'd be traveling for work for a big conference when I had to start and I didn't want to freak out on ppl :)

I really believe you will wake up one day and see the scale move in a hurry! And with the exercise you are doing your body good.

First off, don't compare yourself to others. This is your journey and it will happen however it's meant to happen for you. Second....don't worry about the weight loss. The preop diet is to shrink the liver and if you are following the plan, you're liver will shrink enough for the doctor to band you. The weight loss is secondary here. Good luck...I'm sure you'll do well.

You're going to be fine. Some people lose slower than others. I also was on a two week pre-op and lost 5 lbs at the end of the two weeks. Don't expect giant weight losses with the lapband. You should average 1-2 lbs a week if you're doing everything as instructed. Look at it this way 1 lb a week is 52 lbs in a year and that is awesome! I'm sure you're going to do well, good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
