Since I am new to this subject and website...(banded Friday, July 12)...I am reading abbreviations and acronyms for the first time ever. I think I just figured out that "onederland" must mean a weight under 200. Is that right? Can anyone throw out some abbreviations and their meanings so I can Celebrate your successes with you? I am starting to feel less of an outsider with my nose pressed up against the glass looking in...lol!

NSV is non scale victory. Something changes due to your weight loss. Crossing your legs, sitting in a chair and your hips don't rub the sides. Things like that.

PB is productive burp. When you eat too big a bit, don't chew enough and/or eat too fast you salivate and spit up similar to a baby spitting up.

Those are the 2 used a lot.

Congrats on your surgery and good luck.

Congrats on being banded ! Yes, Onederland means 199 or below, ( Like the old Toyota truck commercial says " Oh what a feeling !!!!! " ), WSL means weight loss surgery, NSV means a Non scale Victory, (like your pants getting looser but it doesn't show up on the scale) etc.............. Anyone else have some ?

Bandster Hell is the time period between when you're banded and when you have adequate Fluid in your band. The reason is, it take most people multiple fills so before they hit that "sweet spot" you get little help from your band...hence bandster hell.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer, Missy. One other thing, I would like to include on my ticker (or maybe a 2nd ticker) how long I have been banded and/or my BMI. When I tried to create a second ticker, it took my "weight ticker" off. I notice you have BMI and weight included on yours. Also, how do you post your motivational quotes?

My ticker isn't from this site. See, we used to be able to use outside ones but they bogged down the server so now we can't. But, I don't care for the styles on this site so I still use my old ticker and just screen shot it to post on my signature line here. I know, tedious and time consuming, but I like my ticker lol.

The quotes are in my signature, too. If you go to "edit profile" then under "settings" you'll see a tab for "signature". That's where I put the quotes :)

What is a plication? I thought it was complication and someone's spell check wasn't working but I've seen it a lot.

What is a plication? I thought it was complication and someone's spell check wasn't working but I've seen it a lot.

Plication is a new procedure where they fold your stomach and staple it together. It makes your stomach smaller. They usually do it with the band, but most insurances do not cover it so you have to do self pay for that one. I wanted it done but my Dr.'s office had not heard of it yet, that is how new it is.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
