For the already banded.. How long did you have to wait before taking the steri strips off? My surgeon said 10 days but I've just taken four of them off because they were half off anyway! Its been nine days' date=' and I left the one on the bigger incision where the band is because its still stuck down nicely. Plus I'm kinda grossed out to take it off because I can feel the lump underneath. Anyone else have a lump where the cut is? I'm assuming its normal because I remember having a lump after my c-section that disappeared as it healed.[/quote']

Have no fear the lump is normal it will eventually go down.

Help! Not getting in enough Protein. I am having a hard time getting in enough protein. I am getting about 20-25 grams day. I'm not eating a lot. Only able to tolerate about 3 oz at a time.

I started using On Gold Standard 100% whey isolate from Vitamin shop. It has 24g per serving and with milk 32g. The vanilla smells like vanilla ice cream!

Right off hand I don't know how much Protein is in it. I got the whey at Walmart and I mean its a good size I got the chocolate flavor and it just taste like thick chocolate milk but its good. I mean its not cheap but for what u spend on that its better in the long run bc the ones that are pre made you only get 4-6 in a thing. Also where the whey is in Walmart that is where I found my blender cup and I absolutely LOVE it. It has like a whisk ball and I can only drink 8oz so I pour my milk put the whisk in and add my powder and shake it its quick and easy and no blender mess. And u can make it the night before put it in the fridge over night and shake it real well in the morning cuz things have settled but I found it helpful especially if ur in a hurry in the morning

I haven't been able to stomach the Protein Shakes since pre-op. I know I should be having them for the Protein but after living on them for four weeks... blah.. My surgeon didn't actually specify how much protein to eat, he was more particular about the consistency of the food.< /p>

If you want a really yummy recipe for your shakes - here are a couple: cherry cheese cake- use 1 scoup vanilla Protein, 8oz milk, 1 tablespoon sugar free cheese cake pudding mik, 1/2 c. Frozen cherries, ice is optional. Blend in your blender. It is yummy!

Another- reeses peanut butter: 1 scoup chocolate Protein Powder or 1 vanilla with 1 teaspoon cocoa powder, 8 oz milk or almond milk, 1 tablespoon creamy Peanut Butter, a packet or 2 splenda, and ice optional. Blend together.

These are two that I have found very yummy. My dietitian gabe me several Protein Shake recipes so I don't have to br drinking the same thing all the time and I have been very grateful! Each of these will give you st least 30g protein per shake.< /p>

OMG....Musica73, those shake recipes sound delicious. My surgery date is tomorrow the 15th and I'm so over these Optifast shakes my Dr had me on. Once I'm on full liquids I'm sooooooo making your shake recipes.

I keep going back and forth. The closer I get to surgery the more I'm like, Am I really doing the right thing? But then I look in the mirror and remember that I don't want to be this way any longer. I'm so thankful for everyone's comments on here, it makes me feel like I really can do this. Thanks everyone!!!

Hey, poohbear!

I did the same thing, was indecisive for several years, until a year ago my mother was told if she didn't have gastric surgery she would die soon. Obesity is a major genetic link in my family. I knew right then I needed to do this now , not later when my life is on the line. I know in my heart it was the right decision. My advice to you is to look at the reasons why you started this journey in the first place. What are the pros and cons? For me my pro list heavily out weighed everything else. Thete is a lot of great support out there. You are not alone in this.

Oh, and I havr seversl other shake recipes thst I would be more than willing to share! They have all been good and have really helped!

And on a side note... my mother had rny surgery in February is down 100 lbs and it has helped improve her health and quality of life immensely. Due to her age, bmi, and health risks, she was not a viable candidate for the band.

Have faith in yourself! And we are all here for support!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
