Here's what MY restriction level looks like.

Recommended Posts

Here's a short video ( I took with my phone after the fluoroscopy ) of what my restriction level looked like today during my doctor visit. He was pleased with the "pouch" size. Said everything looks good... almost 4 years post op. I now have 9 cc's in a 14 cc band. In the video, about 4 seconds in, you can see as I swallow the contrast liquid and it flows past the band.

I have never had fluoro, so I really appreciate seeing what should be going on inside me. Thank you so much for sharing! And happy to hear all is going well for you

This is terrific. You know what I learned? It's not the restriction of the band that's important, but how the band controls the descent of the food. That's why looking at pouch size is critical when assessing a fill. I went for my [almost] 4 month post-op appointment with my surgeon yesterday, and when he looked at my fluoro picture, he confirmed what I already know: I need a bit more saline. This was all based on the pouch size he saw, which was clearly not "pouchy" enough yet with my current 4 ccs in a 10 cc band.

Thanks for posting this because it really shows what we are aiming for when we talk about a green zone.

That's usually how mine looks. I never thought about videoing it. Thanks for sharing. I may do that next month when I go.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
