Recommended Posts

Hello beautiful people i am getting ready for the Lapband surgery. I just wanted to come on here and ask which lapband do you all have and how much weight have you lost? I follow 2 girls on youtube and they both have the realize band and have had success! :-)! Which one do you have the realize band or lapband! Thanks!

i would gander to guess, you would get the band that your doctor uses. i asked my dr which one and was one better than the other and he told me, he uses the allergen and he liked that one......and so its the one i have.

i dont think it (matters) as long as one uses the (tool) as suggested and eat better foods/exercise, no matter which brand, you will lose weight. best of luck to whatever one you and your doctor use. :)

i agree with my friend... cg is right. Most doctors have what they prefer to use. I have the Lap-band AP. at least that's what my cards says.... lol

CG has done a most fantastic job losing weight.... i think shes at about 125 lost... amazing.

I have a 10 cc realize band. I did not have a choice in the matter, it was my Dr's. choice once he got in there and looked around he decided what would be best. If you have a choice the only thing I have read was that the 14 cc realize band had a higher slippage rate, but you know how statistics are it all depends on who did it and stuff like that.so I'd take it with a grain of salt. I put mine in gods and the Dr's hands. So far no problems, but I am only 2 weeks post-op. Good luck with your decision.

I have a 11cc Realize band. It's supposed to be lower pressure than AP and the port is flatter, doesn't show at all, even tho I've lost 119 lb.

This is why I always suggest finding the best surgeon in your area, and let him make the decision as to what is best for you.

My doctor did offer both the realize system and the lapband. He said both had their pros and cons from a surgeons perspective but both did the job when the patient did their job. I went with lapband just because it has been around longer and I thought any kinks in the design were probably worked out. I haven't had any problems with it and I was at my goal weight within one year. I've lost 88 pounds now and I am 148 pounds. wootwoot!!

I am 2 years post op yesterday, and I have the realize band. It was what my physician offers. 147 lbs lost I will say its all about the tool... I'm not sure what name is on it would make a difference.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
