Normally you are good to exercise ( but not extensive) after 5-6 weeks, but after surgery you should still be walking around some to avoid blood clots.

They normally say to exercise after doctor approval, and your first follow up is normally 5-6 weeks after the surgery

My Doc said walking after surgery until 4 weeks post op and then bump it up. No running or jumping till around 6 weeks post-op

I was told right away by my doctor, but was skeptical and choose to wait several weeks and then took it slow at first.

I'd like to start Crossfit again as soon as possible. Its pretty brutal though - so I'm guessing it will be at LEAST 6 weeks post-op before I can return to CF class?

I would confirm with your surgeon because like everything else each dr is different. I was old walking only till 6 weeks post op.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
