Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?

Got a call from the surgical scheduler this morning, and my date is set for July 11th! I was hoping it might be sooner, but not surprised it worked out this way. Means I will be starting my liquid diet while I'm traveling for work - so that will be interesting. I'm also wrestling with not having our annual 4th of July BBQ at my house (which is in a prime location for watching fireworks) - maybe I'll just have ppl over for fireworks but avoid smelling burgers on the grill all day.

Anyone else have a July date set? Wanna support each other through the next weeks?

How are you feeling?

My wonderful friend made me fantastic soup today! Had a mint pea purée soup today it was great. It was half an onion chopped and simmer in evoo then add two bags of peas once they r defrosted add vegetable broth and added chopped mint leaves cooked it then purée it and serve cold.... Delicious and it is helping me toot. I also have a purée pumpkin that's great. Can of organic pumpkin half an I ion some garlic cloves and chicken stock purée it... Tastes nothing like pumpkin and so so so yummy! Both are good for u and it was a nice mix up from broth and tomato soup. I ran them through strainers and if u chose to make them even more thin just add more stock... Both went down beautifully no pain and helped full me up! Also had my 50 grams of protein today... Took off one more day go back half day on Wednesday. Back still hurts from laying so much and still some gas. I'm so happy I'm feeing normal again. I am curious to see how kbush is doing.

Hi all,

I went for my 2 week post-op with my doctor today. He said I'm doing great & released me to greater exercise, including swimming & biking (Yeah!!!) & said that I can finally start on munchies, after almost 4 weeks on liquids only! I was so thrilled that I went straight to the supermarket to get what the nutritionist told me to start with! I had not gotten it yet just in case he said wait a few more days! :). My 1st fill will be a month from now at the 6 week point.

Hope everyone is feeling as happy & positive as I am right now!

I am quite hungry today what is everyone eating?

I'm hungry right now too. Didn't feel awesome today - probably pushed myself a little too hard. I won't hit my protein goal today :(

Deb that is such great news!! Congrats in your achievements and being able to eat some normal real world foods. I can't wait for that. I had some cream if chicken soup strained today and it was such a great treat. The creaminess was filling and satisfying and had some skim milk with it. Aviva don't get down about protein!!! I just was able to drink protein yesterday and only 25 g today I got down 50grams. You will be okay and stay in the right positive track! Be careful about pushing yourself too hard. Karen went to work today too and she said she pushed herself too hard too. Relax and everything will be fine in a few weeks!!

Oh and Aviva my appetite came back yesterday!! Try to have a creamy soup, strained and add little extra water. It's a great treat a d only a few bites is what you need. Tomato soup yesterday was heavenly and today cream of chicken was great. I also find and I did this trick for years... Skim milk is filling and satisfying and it hydrates you and makes you pee. So small glass of milk with the soups was like thanksgiving to me! Don't be afraid just eat slow, and small bites, and listen to your body.

I feel u. I am someone when it comes to food if u give an inch I will take a mile. So I have been going about this as by the book as possible so that I don't fall into old habits of "we'll that worked, I wonder if this other thing will go down fine too". Just what I need to do for me.

Oh okay!., no prob. Still get majorly full on just a few sips I just needed some flavor in my life... Should we make a new thread in post opp ...I'm gonna make one

Good Morning July Banders.......

Thought I would give a cliff note version of my experience....

17 days ago I started my pre-op diet (1.5 weeks before surgery) and a week ago (Jul 8) I was banded. In that 17 days I am down 23 lbs!!! YAY

Surgery went great and went home the nexy day. Wed I was sore and pretty much sat in a recliner and walked around the house a bit. On Thur (3 days post op) I went grocery shopping and cooked dinner....did the same on Friday! Starting Sat I felt very normal with the exception of the tenderness and swelling. Still have the swelling.

Today is 1 week and I am back to work. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to do this. Today I also start on full liquids.

I have to say I am fortunate....no nausea' date=' gagging and no problems getting my shakes and water in.

Hoping all my friends on here have such a great experience. Happy Monday all.... Lisa[/quote']

Thanks for sharing this MsGal: I go in on Wednesday for my surgery and so many of these post-op stories are getting me nervous! I'm hoping my recovery is as great as yours is. Best to you that it stays that way!

Bring sexy back you will do great!! Don't be scared its the best choice to get your life back! Bring ear plus and Chapstick to hospital. Also make sure u have pain mess at home. My doctor gave me Tylenol with coding if I didn't have something at my house i would have been much worse...honestly some gas, pain and back pain from laying so much....not bad at all, and day 3 and later you actually feel like a human again. You're entire life is about to change and be excited about it, don't be scared at all you will be fabulous!

Ps girls come fine me in Post Op thread labeled July 2012 Band buddies....already met a new friend tiger!
