Good Morning...

Today is starting off much better. I still have a mild headache' date=' but nothing close to last evening. Four hours of sleep and 4 doses of Fiorinal helped. It's been years since something like this...I must need to stay with my routine...,totally by the wayside yesterday.

Terri andmDee, so happy that they two of you're able to meet...like when Terri, Diane and I met, it was not like meeting strangers. We really already knew each other...good times. I hope you enjoy!

Dawn, you will do well, because you are motivated for success. Plus, you have many life changes which you are moving towards...and inherently people do not embrace change. Especially when others precipitate the change. Aka, your daughter's leaving home to attend school.

Diane, I hope you brother continues to improve...and that the crucial time passed uneventfully. I can only imagine how anxious you are to get home and resume your routines. Continuing prayers of healing to you and your family.

Michelle, totally normal for your son to be felling resistant to the the situation facing him and your family. He will come around...it may take years, in our case 24 years for me to be vindicated and forgiven for having Seth placed in a low intervention level of SLD classes. The military confirmed his disgraphia and ADHD diagnoses, which let me off the hook for forgiveness. For all of his school years Seth was angry with me for insisting he be evaluated for learning disabilities, and then when they were found to take the recommended interventions for his academic success. That was a difficult journey for years, but again his maturity helped. All good things in time!

Janet, thank you for your concern and inspiring words...I hope and pray that your mom is feeling better today, and that no surgery will be necessary. I thought Dawn's idea about renting a beach outfitted wheelchair was a great idea. Maddy would definitely the sand. I hope you all come up with a solution...

So, speaking of change, yesterday when we were in the "big city" of Asheville, we discovered that the TJMaxx store had a Home Goods there, something we had not seen since leaving Florida. We were able to get some of the necessary items for a king size bed, and Jack experienced a form of sticker shock. I will only sleep on cotton, and in king size, they are quite a bit more expensive than they were a few, years back, but at least we have the basic things we need. I will need another set of sheets and a quilt, but not just yet.

I also got a new phone yesterday, which I was not expecting to do until next month. I wanted to keep my same cell number I have had for years,,and had been told that I would only be allowed to,do this while in the same area code as the number. Not true, so I now have a new phone with better coverage areas off of the mountain. But, again, another learning curve for to navigate through. I don't do especially well with change...and here we go again.

Jack has an appointment with a surgeon here for his outpatient surgery this Friday, and on Monday we take our road trip to Charlotte with the kitchen designer to select the kitchen countertops. Trying to pace ourselves...

I hope every one will have a great day...today is a day of rest for me up until the Headache is gone. I really need to get focused on losing the last 25 pounds I need to. Difficult to do with a sore foot, but I am determined!

Bi pg hugs to each of you...

[/quote']

Wow! U are making me tired!! You sure do a lot... Sound like anyone else u know?....heehee

My son is receptive to alternative medication so we are going to see an acupuncturist and get some supplements/ Vitamins to help. Reflexology is supposed to be good too!

Well, today the Migraine came roaring back...I spent most of the afternoon in bed sleeping. If no improvement by tomorrow, it will be time to see the doctor for injections. I'm taking it easy, with minimum projects today, and hope that tomorrow will be migraine free. Too much needs to be done around here to be out of commission!

Michelle...very happy to read that you are looking into alternative treatment options. I have never heard of acupuncture being helpful for Tourette's, but there must be something to it if you were referred in that direction. Prayers to you and your family that your son will be treatment compliant...

Carole, sorry to hear about the Migraines. Praying tomorrow will be a better day. Sending warm fuzzy thoughts your way.

Mini, Yes, Carole sounds just like you....

Hope acupuncture does the trick. I was considering acupuncture for the pain I was in months after my accident. I got a LB instead and whatever they did in surgery, fixed my neck and the rest is history.

Tell your son we are still waiting for a video concert. Does he take request?

Terri, please don't call me St.Janet. I understand the heart in how you said it, but I am far from a saint. I also believe what the bible says about getting your praise down here on earth, Its all you will get. I'm looking for more than that.lol

Thank you for your praise, but I'm just doing what I think is right.

Been using a seam ripper a lot today. Guess my heads not in the game. I hope you share a picture of your friends quilt.

Oh, about the beach wheel chair rental... The problem is Maddy can't sit up in one. She'd fall off the side. Her wheelchair at home has all kinds of molded cushioning to keep her sitting up right. Her new wheelchair is so much better than her last one.

Dee, I'm so proud of you. You are going to ace the GED!!!!!

I look at you as a Saint, but I know our beliefs are very similar and you want your praise on the other side too.lol

You will be blessed for all your work with the children and your church.

In my minds eye, I can already see your diploma.

Dawn, I hope your world has brightened some today.

I'm thrilled you have a Drs appt for your band. Can't remember when it is, but I hope its not on your birthday.

I wish I was there to Celebrate my c girls birthday. Just know, I will be there in spirit, singing HB at the top of my lungs. Its probably a good thing, it will be I spirit.

PS. sometimes I enjoy embarrassing my children.

Loved all the pictures you posted on FB. Its funny, but I felt like I knew who some of them were. Definitely knew your sis.

You're one day closer!

Thanks Janet. My appointment is Tuesday a.m. My dr. is only in on Tuesday mornings. Some of my coworkers and I get together for each of our birthdays. LOL, I told them we could go AFTER my appointment, so either Wed. or Thurs.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and believing in me. I have been far too emotional lately and I know it will pass. Jeez, I turned on America's Got Talent. I don't normally watch this and started crying w/ the first act I saw (a 14 year old girl, whose father died) and she wrote and sang a beautiful song. Di, it's also reassuring to know you were "stalled" for several months and still made it to your goal and are maintaining it. It makes me realize and believe I am not a failure and I can still do this. I do believe a fill is long overdue as well. I also had forgotten my medicine when I went out to Omaha this past weekend, so for 4 days I didn't have my blood pressure medicine and that threw me out of whack. I normally carry it in my purse too as backup but had forgotten to restock that. Normally, I could've gone to the pharmacy and gotten a small supply to tide me over, except that my prescription is a mail order one. On top of that, my dr. couldn't call one in as I just got a letter in the mail that my dr. retired so I don't have one right now... My BP isn't that high normally, but it makes a big diff when I don't take it as it has a Water pill in it and I put on 6 lbs of Water in those few days. Today is the first day I am feeling "unbloated". Oh great, I'm crying again with another amazing singer on this show... lol.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
