Janet have a fabulous trip! I am so happy you like your new machine. I love mine. I don't even have the lift bar attached to mine so I am not tempted to try to use it to sew! We missed you Wednesday at lunch, but as you told us all Carole is super sweet, and Diane is a truly a nice person. She bought Carole and I both Friendship Angels to remember the day by! How sweet

Mini... congrats on the new washer dryer, they look fab, for something that you have to WORK on! LOL! Hope that they make doing laundry a dream!

Dawn I hope Ericka is enjoying Ecuador, I had to laugh at the guinea pigs, cause Franc came home from Peru last fall with the same story. He swears when he goes back this year he is going to try it.

More power to him! I could not get past the psychological aspect of eating a little furry creature that my kids had as pets.

CAWA?????? Where the heck are you girl... you went to work and never came home? Hello out there in Band Land. Any body seen or heard from Cawa?

Doreen, Now that I have met Carole and Diane I am even more excited about meeting you in July! We are truly all kindred spirits and friends forever!

Carole and Diane... LOVED, LOVED, LOVED our lunch! We will have to gather our friends and do it again soon!

I am home until Saturday afternoon, and then off we go to the beach for the 4th of July at the boat. Busy, busy, busy.

Had a horrible night last night and day today with Gladys. She apparently did not like the pizza my aunt fed us for dinner. It has been liquids and PB yogurt for me today. Not hungry at all, and having to force hydrating liquids. Not stuck, just BLAH tummy!

Hope you all have a great time over the 4th, I will be on off and on at the beach! Diane... come on down to Topsail, NC!

I had my worst night yet last night... Have to believe that not feeling well after the multiple barium swallows yesterday had something to do with it. Jack said that after returning to bed after taking the dogs out he actually heard my band make some strange noise seconds before I woke up coughing from a sound sleep.

Today it has been liquids...

Well, let's just say that now I feel like a true blonde. My hair is lighter than I have ever had before...it is summer, and I will have the stylist add more low lights next time. She did an excellent job with the cut, so I will go back. The prices for all the services for spa day are less than in Orlando...but I still miss my regular peeps!

Yes, yesterday was a fun time finally meeting cyber personalities in person...we are a great group of women. Jack's comment to me as we returned to the car was you must like everyone for lunch to last 4 hours. He had a good time also...definitely we need to make plans, and hope there will be more members present.

Janet, have a wonderful and safe trip! The weather does sound wild along the gulf coast...stay safe! Missed seeing you, but there is always August or November.

Michelle...sometimes our bands do not cooperate...hope it's a one time event.

Dawn...how are you?

Terri, sorry to read you did not have a good day...and hope that tomorrow will be better...enjoy the sunshine at the coast!

Diane, thank you again for my angel. You are on the right path with family...as we say in Florida, stand your ground...no pun intended.

Going out to our yard this evening...the fireflies are here! Another special memory of my youth...

Happy Friday...

Thankfully I am feeling better today, and getting some quality sleep last night was a big contributor.

When it rains, it pours...I hurt my foot yesterday afternoon while looking in the granite yards yesterday afternoon. I have not decided if I want to have an X-ray done just in case. So, I won't be able to continue with our walking for a bit...

We saw a marble/quartzite called "Rainforest", which actually has petrified wood in it...it would really allow for my Quest to bring the outside inside. A bit on the wild side, but intriguing none the less. I would have to give up doing the chiseled edge...so we are still considering our options.

Janet...have a wonderful trip! Send pictures...you too, Terri!

Dee...it was good to see your post. Between you and Terri the Fitbit company will stay in business!

Dawn and the CA girls, I hope all is well.

Well good evening friends. For those of you not on FB the morning was rocky. I got up at 4am and was at my desk by 530am for a 7am meeting. I had to prep for that meeting and another meeting that was at noon. The first meeting ran over by 30 minutes making me late to pick up Mama to take her to day care and it was on. She was refusing to go and I was overwhelmed with my work plate and did not respond as appropriate as I should. Yep, I fussed at her and she cried and pouted all the way to day care. Thus my post on FB stating I had no more patience for the day. I felt like an ass, fussing at a demented lady does not make one feel very good.

I did get my stuff ready for Medical staff meeting, my secretary was ready to have a nervious breakdown and I prepped my doctor and on we went with 3 additional afternoon meetings with Directors.

I feel like I ran a marathone todoay in high heels and a dress but I did it and picked up Mama at 5pm ON TIME! and Made it through the day without wringing someone's neck.

Did I forget to mention during all this I tried to eat some fish, asparagus and sweet potato and ended up throwing up in my waste basket under my desk. I hate when that happens and I know better than to eat quickly when i am stressed.

Carole sorry you had a bad night but to be expected with that barium, hope today has went much better, I really joyed meeting Jack, he is a supper guy and he seemed to enjoy himself.

Janet hope you and hubby are enjoying the free trip. I am jealious, I would love to walk on a beach or just have some free time to spend with my hubby or even my self. oh well!

Mini and Cawanna, hope your both doing good, Mini I really love the W and D. It is exactly what I want but I want to stack them. A dream right now, all the extra goes for day care and sitters.

Come on powerball, make me a winner.

Teri, hope your day is going good, I really enjoyed Franc, he is very witty and has a great sense of humor.

Dee Teri is correct you are our Angel on earth, I know no one who gives so much of themself so selflessly. I admire your dedication to your family and others. big hug to you my friend and I hope someday we can meet in person. I know Teri has a trip planned later in the summer to meet you. you will enjoy Teri she is an exceptional lady.

Well if I forgot anyone, I am sorry. Love you all and I will try to be good. I did eat some sliced deli turkey and a cheese stick for dinner and it stayed down. ;-)

Diane...feel good about being a survivor. Many times over.

Terri is correct. You are human, and like my mother always told me, "perfection exists as a word in the dictionary". Lose the guilt feelings, you did the best you could and beyond. Is there anything more you can realistically ask of yourself?

Janet, hope you are enjoying the beach...and I especially hope you are having great weather!

Dee, give that scum bag H#¥%! Do they have a "small claims court" system in PA? Look into that...it could help you recover your money.

Terri, I hope you are using your sunscreen.

Dawn, Cali girls Nicole and Michelle...I hope life and bands are treating you well...

Oh, forgot amid all the angst over Seth's deployment today...

Nothing broken in my left foot...just a nasty sprain with swelling and some bruising.

The doctor complimented me on my impressive hardware (screws in my foot from surgery), and told me that my doctor had done an excellent job with my surgery.

Note to self: Never wear platform sandals while walking on an uneven surface like crushed granite. The results will likely be painful and disabling.

I hope to return to our evening walks in a week or so.

All good things in time...

In NC the proper footwear is flipflops! ROFLMAO!

Take it easy for a few days!

Terri...how was I to know? The official footwear of Florida are flip flops...

I just did not even think about what I was wearing when we went to look at granite slabs. We really need to choose the countertops...time is of the essence now if we hope to have the kitchen completed by the end of July.

We discovered "Green Rainforest"... A rather wild quartzite/marble which also has petrified wood in it. I did want to being the outside inside, and this does that. Still debating if it is too busy, but all the colorations to coordinate with the interior colors are there. Decisions, decisions...

Rediscovering many essential items now...still no scale. But we do have lightbulbs and my Vitamins again...life is good!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
