This is good to know. I'm a list maker as well. I just take my notebook with me where ever I go. lol My husband (aka Larry) jokes that even my lists have lists. I have started one for the class' date=' so we'll see. I'm not sure what all I need to know, but I'm sure I'll take notes during the session.[/quote']

Lol. That's a good thing. At least you will be prepared.

Still anxious/eager about the class. It can't get here soon enough for me. Patience is a virtue I do not possess.

Dieting pre-pre-op didn't serve me well today. I shouldn't have even gotten out of bed. Ugh. It was a day of days. When I got home' date=' my blood pressure was 190/106. Nothing huge happened, just a lot of little things. I may need therapy. lol[/quote']

I'm the same way, very inpatient.

Don't get discouraged just try little changes at a time. Then when surgery comes you will be ready. I had days like that, when I didn't want to get out of bed or felt like why did I get out of bed today. I found walking outside helped with my mood or just getting out and doing something I like or play your favorite music. Hope that helps. Remember you are on the road to a new journey already and that's a big step on its own.

Graduation party went well yesterday. I didn't think about banding at all' date=' which is unusual since I'm so obssessed with it. Enjoyed my time with the grandkis and son & daughter-in-law. Blood pressure ran on the high side of normal, so it was a nice night. Couldn't sleep though, so I was making egg salad at midnight. It was good.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

That's good that you got out and had your mind off the lap band. Congrats to your grand kids!!!

I thought I would share this article I read since you are so eager and ready for the lap band. The article says you can buy chia mix from health food stores or GNC and mix it with some Water and it will make you feel full like you have the lap band and you will only be able to eat a little bit and it keeps you feeling full. Let me know if your interested and I will try to look through my magazines and find the article to tell you all the details.

Thanks for that. I needed to hear that just today. I'm having a *fat* day. Where you just feel fat. I have*ugly* days too, and today is both. Hubby says I'm not ugly. lol Brat. I did feel well enough to clean the house and do laundry. I'm just taking it slow. Tomorrow, the ONLY thing I'm doing is grocery shopping. One day at a time. Sometimes, one minute at a time.

Today I had no thought of banding...til now. Ran around like a chicken with its head cut off all day today. Nobody had what I needed. I think its a conspiracy.

I don't know how to do it with the app, but in general, here are instructions to post to this forum:

Drop down bar at top: Forums/Forums Home

Click: Basics for Lap Band Surgery for Beginners

Click: Pre-Operation Lap Band Surgery Questions and Answers

Click Black Button: Start New Topic

I think that should get you there. Good Luck.

Called in my record of blood pressure for the last week. Looks like I'll be starting a new med (yay). I think that gets me a bit closer to insurance covering the surgery.

I have an iPhone as well and that's all I use to get on this forum, that's actually how I found this forum through the app. Anyways just click on whatever subject you want to post on like pre surgery or post surgery and then at the top there will be an arrow with a box around it, click on that and go to new thread and your ready to make a new thread. Good luck. Hope that helps.

That sucks that you have to start a new med, but hopefully that does bring you closer to getting the lap band. I know you want the lap band and I'm sure you will get it no problem, but try not to stress out on it to much. I know easier said than done, but the stress is not good for your blood pressure. Keep your head up Linda and remember you have already started the journey just by inquiring about the surgery. Best wishes to a brighter day today :)

I need to find a good way to relax. I meditate, but not regularly, and it wouldn't help while I'm driving anyway. Deep breathing is good. I'm going to look into other methods as well. Losing the weight will definitely help.

Doctor prescribed Losartan for HBP. Took it yesterday and it threw me for a loop. Severe fatigue, nausea, bad poopy stuff going on. Today is much better. Looks like its working for the blood pressure, though, so I'm good. No sides today.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
