Here comes the sun !! What time of day do you workout and why

I was banded on May 2, 2013! Prior to banding I would get up around 5:00 and go to the gym before work. Now my mornings are slow and I don't have the energy to go to the gym first thing. I hope that that will change as I progress to soft foods. Right now I walk mid morning (I haven't returned to wrk yet) a couple of miles. Working out puts my head in a great space! I wish I had some energy!

Right after work before I get comfy at home, otherwise I won't do it. Weekends- first thing in the morning.

Sounds like exercise is a priority to you and you have a definitive plan ! What are the top two things you get from exercise ?

Congrats on getting the band and seizing your future! You just came off surgery and aren't even back to work but clearly you are a warrior because you are walking and making it happen - Kudos! Walking can actually be a very effective workout even for someone that has been a reg at a gym as you have been. Walk purposeful - time it if you can - add "intervals" sprint walk between street light posts etc...

I walk to and from work, with yoga after work or during lunch times 2-3 times a week. My hair is a hassle to deal with if I have to shower and rush to go before work. Weekends I try to do something active, either walking to another town to go shopping or out clubbing of a night. I find being busy keeps me away from wanting to eat

I just started walking a week ago,I walk with my husband, and I walk first thing in the morning. I live in Texas and I know it will eventually be really hot during the day and even into the evening so I thought I'd just get use to the morning. My husband is a runner, or I should say was a runner, he hurt his back in the military and can't run. He is able to keep me at a good pace,I'd walk a lot slower without him, but it looks like I might loose my buddy his back is already acting up. They told him after the surgery it would be good to walk, but it is not looking that way. The pain is shooting down his leg, and of course he doesn't want to let me down and keeps saying that he can do this. He is so hard headed, but I love him.:) I'll just have to sneak out while he is sleeping.< /p>

Whenever I can squeeze it in. Preferrably mornings.

Retired here, so I can when I can go feel like it. I usually try for the mid afternoon, when I know the health club will be fairly dead. I try to go at least five times a week, for at least 40 to 60 minutes. I'm new to health clubs and I am still learning my way around.

Weekdays Lunchtime or right after dinner.

Saturdays 6:30 am

Sundays 1:00 pm

So the answer really is when there is time. Sometimes life gets in the way and I don't work out at all :)

Hey, Cool Carolinagirl ! What type of step aerobics are you doing? Is it a video or a class you attend with others ? I love how you say you can feel a difference in your Thinking! That's THE biggest benefit for sure : )

I hear that you are FINDING A WAY to make it happen and I agree "staying busy" had been an excellent tool to eating less/better. What type of yoga do you practice ?

Hey Stept,

WOW that's a great idea about beating the heat in Texas. My sister , who lives in Texas, had to do the same starting her walk just before sunrise. She started at 417 lbs ... 30 seconds at a time she kept increasing it until she ran her first 5k about 2 yrs later. You are correct in pointing out intensity and speed matter BIG time when walking for exercise. A free way to help yourself on this is you use MapMyWalk an app for iPhone or android devices. This will give you the exact route you walk your distance and pace etc... all in real time. You can also share the info with others if you chose to.

Good luck and sorry your husbands back injury is going to prevent him from walking with you. He may find a recumbent bike at local gym to be a great tool to get exercise without causing back issues.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
