Great that you have pictures to compare :-) I've avoided cameras like the plaque for a long time, but can probably dig something up from a few months ago. Actually, I take it back......my surgery was on 3/25....the first night of Passover, and pictures were taken at the hospital. Needless to say, this year no seder pictures, but for good reason!!

And I'm SO glad to hear that you're off of so many meds. That's fantastic! I know you feel fabulous :) I look forward to being where you are. I started this venture at an older age, too (57), and so far it's been the best decision I've made about anything, in a very long time.

My brother and sister-in-law are never without the camera and they don't care what size you are. My SIL always says one day we will only have pictures. She is an only child and her mother died 20 years ago in her early 60's. I know about hiding. But I do have plenty of befores, just don't know how to post.

Hi stept04

I understand what you're feeling. I'm scheduled for surgery June 28 and I'm really having second thoughts. I'm in Ontario and lapband is not well known in Canada. I have fears of complications and hospitals in my area not knowing anything about lapband and misdiagnosing or mistreating me. Im about 2 hours away from my surgeons office. To top it off, I'm self pay ($16000) and my husband and I work at the same place. We are having some serious slowdowns at work and now I fear spending that kind of $ just in case something happens as we have 2 children in post secondary (and wow it's expensive here in Canada). I'm normally not superstitious but I'm wondering if this is some sort of sign to not proceed with the surgery. I've been yo-yo-ing back and forth for the past 2 weeks and the stress has caused me to lose 8.5 lbs (weird cause normally I'm a stress eater-and I realize I will prob gain it bak like always). I don't know a single person who has has wls personally as it isn't popular here so the only info I am getting is from this forum and my surgeon. My family dr is not familiar with the band so he is only going by what he reads as well. Ugh. I hate decisions like this! My husband will support me either way but he is not real cool with risks or complications so I think he would prefer I back out.

Hi mugs

Well with all my fears I have started this and will finish this the same way,and that is my trust in god. I will take one day at a time making only the decision I need to make at that time. Right now I'm scared about not succeeding, but as long as there is nothing in my way I'll keep on going. If something comes up to not allow the surgery to happen then it must not be the right time. I've had a couple of things that kept this surgery from happening, it took 9 years for me to get this close. Even a couple of months ago I thought I was going to have to put it off, but so far so good. I don't know if any of this helps you, but I do know you can only make the best decision you can with the information you have at that time. I would just hate for you to miss out on an opportunity to change your life, as would I . But you are the only one that can make the decision. So I wish you well and good luck with whatever decision you make,.

I'm 54. I like reading your posts and dylanmiles. I suspected you two were around my age. I also went from two hypertensive meds to one...and at a much lower dosage to boot. Except for my knee, the rest of me is doing much better since I started dropping the weight. If I eventually need a knee replacement, at least I'll have a better chance that it will be successful without all the extra weight.

Step104....it's normal to feel like you might fail. I just posted a topic earlier today about the fear of failing even though I'm doing very well at 3 1/2 months post banding having lost 53 lbs. so far. Listen to the other folks who replied. Work the program and you will see results.

I went off of my blood pressure meds this past week. I was shocked, because I'm only around 6 weeks out! I was feeling SO lethargic every day, so I called my doctor & the nurse told me that it could very well be the blood pressure meds. I checked my numbers, and sure enough.....it was low. She told me to stop taking the drug for a couple of days & see how I feel. Well, I feel much better! Granted, I was taking the lowest dose possible, but I'm still surprised that I could stop them after only a 17 pound loss. It feels great! Is this what they call a NSV?

I also have a bad knee. I'm sure from too much weight over time. I've got other issues as well, and PRAY that some of it subsides as more weight comes off. I know that some won't resolve completely, but I have to imagine that it will be better without all the excess baggage :P My next plan of action is to start working with a physical therapist, who can put me on a program to strengthen what needs strengthening, to stretch what needs stretching; ALL without causing further damage to what's already injured and weak. OMG - I really messed myself up trying Curves about a year ago. That place is for people with ZERO skeletal/orthopedic issues!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
