Gone for Good Club - May 2006

Recommended Posts

Kathy -

That's crazy! You are looking soooooo good! See - I look at this picture and would never have guessed that you were overweight. You've taken on that I've never been fat look - how cool is that?

I have noticed the scale not moving much since I started going to the gym. I can't say I've noticed the huge difference I see here with you - but I guess other people are really starting to notice because I'm getting lots of comments. I have attributed my "lack" of weight loss to poor eating - but maybe it's just that change to muscle? (although I'm looking for the signs of muscle as much as I'm searching for collarbones - hard to see yet!) I haven't been eating alot, but my food choices have been crappy due to a too-tight band. Got that fixed, so maybe I'll be on my way now?

Good job my dear - you look awesome!

O.k. I am so thrilled to be a part of your "gone for good club".

A little about me...or maybe a lot...who knows.

I was banded almost a year ago. June 7th in Mexico because my insurance would not pay for me here in the states because I was not big enough. Well...222.5 felt big enough for me. I have been a SUPER slow loser. I am almost down 40 pounds but I feel really great. BUT still a ways to go.

I am 29. I live in Austin. I am single (hopefully not forever) :) . I am also an attorney and lobbyist. I love my job, co-workers, friends, and sometimes my family.

That is it! PROUD MEMBER of GFG!

Hey Lins! Welcome! I'm really close to you! I'm 24 and I live in San Antonio and am in my 2nd year of law school. Very cool!

40 lbs is great! Since you didn't have as much as some of us to lose, from what I read it generally does go slower. Congrats on the weight loss and welcome to GFG!

so today I went back to torrid to do a bit of shopping for tonights party. My god that place is addictive!! Bought another new corset. And a really soft yellow shirt with open shoulders. So I am walking out and it is right next to Icing (owned by Clair's accessories) and I think what the hay! I need some new earrings to go with the new tops. LOL I am awful!! At least their stuff is cheap! So I am in there and I am looking at all of their stuff and I think, "ya know! I used to have triple pierced ears. I rarely wore anything in the third holes, but I always had earrings in my first and second holes. But my second holes have long since closed up. So I decided to get the second holes re-pierced.

The whole time I am looking at stuff emily is asking me "whatcha doin ma?" "Oh can I have this? It makes me oh so pretty!" "Oh Its pink ma! I like pink!" "Holes in your ears? Is that how earrings work? I want earrings!" So I call Rob and hand the phone to emily so she can ask him. Our rule was that she would have to ask. We were not going to get her ears pierced as a baby. It would be her decision. At least for the first set. After that she has to wait till she is 16. LOLThen she can pierce anything that I can see.

So she asks, and her kind and sweet daddy says yes. While she is on the phone with him she is sitting in the chair watching really close as the woman does my second holes. She sees the stud puncture my lobe. She sees a little blood (I bleed with paper cuts) She asks me "did that hurt? Do you have a booboo? Do you need a bandageaid?" I answer yes, yes, no.

She sits back and says into the phone "Daddy I don't want a earring. I am not big enough for hurts and booboos yet."

The ear piercing girl just about cried! LOL

Love the story. I think little kids are just too cute.

Is the corset for ANOTHER party Funny?

I had to buy a bathing suit this week for this weekend. TRAUMATIC! But it ended up looking pretty cute. Now wearing it in public is a different story.

To everyone competing in the Spring Challenge - The first week of the challenge was 8 days long, so totals for perfect weeks would have been 8, 16, and 24. All following perfect weeks would be 7, 14, and 21. Please make any corrections you need to make before we get to the end of the challenge.

Wednesday will be the final day of competition. Everyone will need to add up their points and fill in all blanks on the scorecards. I will go through each score card on Thursday and verify the totals. The winner will be announced on Thursday or Friday on the Gone for Good Club June 2006 thread. Unless we decide to have another challenge for June, there will be no score cards on the June thread and this one will be locked after I get the updates made for Wednesday May 30th. Everyone has done a fantastic job with this challenge! I hope more are able to participate next time.

I really wish more of you would give me your weight loss updates each week. I know we can be losing over 100 pounds a week as a group. Come on Gone for Good'ers, let's get active!

With Duke being as sick as he was I quit my very stressfull property management job and have been staying home. Well he is going back to work FULL DUTY on June 5th so I have started to look for a new position with a new company. I put in quite a few resumes but yesterday afternoon I got the call I REALLY REALLY wanted. As of the first week in June I will be a manager for Starbucks!!! WOOHOOO! I have wanted to get on with them for 3 years!

I may not always understand the path that God puts us on but I learned a long time ago not to argue!

Skye

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
