Banding is set for April 30th

Recommended Posts

I am really nervous and excited about this all at the same time. Lucky for me though, I have two close friends who were banded 2 yrs ago and have given me some great tips. Love to hear more from all of you, too. April 30th can not get here quick enough!!

How exciting!! You will be so happy once your band is in place. I'm on day 2 post op and feeling better and better as the hours pass. I was able to drink my Protein shake this morning, very slowly, but I drank the whole 10oz within about 15 minutes. It feels good to have some substance in my stomach.

I was able to take my outer bandaids off this morning and I took a shower.... it felt so good! I can't believe how small the incisions are. The one over my port is about 2 inches long, but the other 4 are super small.

I am so glad I made the choice to get a lapband. It still doesn't seem real to me. I can already tell that I am more in tune with my body. I'm listening to my stomach signals and following the rules.

Best of luck to you! It will be here before you know it :-)

I am 2 days post op as well.

The gas pain is the worst but it gets better and better. I was having an emotional break down yesterday because i didn't know what my body wanted. I was getting the gurgling sounds from my intestines but it was gas. Tried taking gas X does not work by the way. Bought heat pads and placed them where my pain was located and the gas slowly started to leave. On the day of surgery one of my incisions opened up. The biggest on of course. They closed it up with surgical glue that they use. I'm still looking out for it. But they told me that as long as it doesn't ooze out any puss or get very red its fine. I also had a bad reaction to the pain med that they provided me at the hospital. Morphine was not a good company to me. I ended up pulling my own IV out lol, i couldn't take it anymore. Other than that i made a perfect decision. Everyone says that it gets better and better. Well i started off on a bad foot but i'm working my way up to perfect! Everything takes time. Best decision i ever made. Good luck to you and congrats!!!!!

I was named in April 8th. The first two days were rough then the third day i literally felt like i was dying. Not trying to scare you but a lesson to all new bansters. I 100% believe it was due to dehydration and Severe Lack of calories/ENERGY as I was only able to take in about 16oz off Fluid and 150 calories+/- I'm the two days post-op. However, once i switched (for that day only) to regular Powerade, I felt a great deal better. Today, almost two weeks post-op, I feel about 95% back to normal! ANYWAY... I personally have not really experienced "bandster hell" as until the last three days i have not had any hunger at all just boredom in the food choices. The first feeling of hunger that i experienced was when i was making my husband's favorite dinner...my stomach was rumbling. As of the last three days, I get hungery about 3.5-4.5 hrs after I eat. It's just frustrating knowing that my teeth still work and i could chew more solid food than cottage cheese, but can't because i need to follow the rules. As far as being afraid of "banster hell", I think if this its hell, it's worth it! And if hell gets hotter, that'd be worth it too!!! Good luck to you! You will do just fine!!!!

I am not looking forward to the gas pains. I remember all too well the gas pain from my hysterectomy...not ready for it again. BUT, I am ready for my health to be better.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
