What I have learned since being banded

Well it's been 3 weeks since I was banded. Just received my first fill this week, and am grateful my doctor does fills to early. Here are some things I have learned that may be helpful to some newbies! You must learn to differentiate between head hunger and physical hunger. The reason why we are all here is because in the past we have given in to head hunger way too many times. Now that my band is much tighter, that feeling of fullness is not the same as it once was. However, it is now a feeling of satisfied. There is a HUGE difference. So, newly banded, do not expect to feel "stuffed" while eating smaller portions. You must learn to listen to your body and understand the new feeling of being full. You can easily gain weight with the band by making poor choices. The worst thing I have given in to in the last few weeks is a piece of pizza. That is a HUGE accomplishment for me. Tomorrow is my birthday. Will I eat dessert? Yes, a few bites. I don't believe in giving up things that I once enjoyed. The only problem is I enjoyed them too much. We must now learn to eat to live, not live to eat. There is nothing that is EASY about having the band. It takes a huge lifestyle change that you must be willing to commit to.
