Nine days post surgery and port poking me

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I'm wondering how long will I have a poking feeling every time I move in certain ways specially when I lay down at night???? Is this going go away any time soon? I don't want to second guess myself, but I cannot imagine living like this forever. I guess I just want someone to say this is normal right now, and it's going to get better. All and all to stop feeling weird sensations (for lack of a better word, not painful), it took me a full 2 months. I'm 8 months out now and I only noticed it the other day when I was doing (well trying to do :)) jumping jacks, I did not like the feeling, so I stopped.

It took me months also. I was feeling the same way, thinking I had to live with it the rest of my life. Don't even know its there now, unless I feel for it.

I enjoy grossing my kids out by having them feel it,lol

The little things in life that tickle me.

Hi,

My surgery was 12/28/12 and my port is poking out. It is very annoying. The doctor tried to push it down on my last fill. It's poking out again and I'll see him Thursday. I'm wondering if my port can be revised because it really protrudes a lot. It doesn't hurt, it's just annoying.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
