How do you know? I had my second fill about 3 weeks ago and finally feel some restriction. I have had a stuck episode and am learning to slow down. It has been more difficult learning to take small bites. I get what I think is a soft stop of hiccups or a lump in my throat. I do not stay full for 4 hours. I guess I am wondering how do you know if you should get another fill? I am scared because of the stuck episode. I am scared my next fill will be too tight since I have had a stuck episode. I read if you can till eat bread or rice you are not tight enough. I can eat both as long as I don't eat too fast. I can eat a little more than a cup of food before I get the soft stop. I guess I just need some advice from people who have experienced this. Should I get my next fill which is scheduled next week. I will ask my doctor as well and tell him my concerns but I would like to hear from you all as well. I have lost 20 pounds so far and was banded in January 2013, Most of that was from my pre surgery diet. I am a bit discouraged and I know I shouldn't be.

Generally speaking, if you can be satisfied on a cup or less food without hunger for at least 4 hours, you don't need another fill. If you find yourself still hungry after a cup of food or you can't go at least 4 hours without hunger, you probably need another fill.

Discuss it with your doctor because he's the authority and expert.

Missy is correct. Plus you will continue to have issues if you eat to big a bits and too fast. Practice small bits, chewing till mush and eating slower. Then discuss with your doctor.

It is a learning experience that doesn't stop, I'm a year banded and still have to slow down sometimes. Hubby often says "that looks like an awfully big bit." Lol he is usually right.

Good luck.

I feel like you do. Should have lost more by now. Most of my weight loss was presurgery too. Hoping for a fill next week. Had my first stuck today. But I am never full. I can eat much more than one cup.

Be careful with seeking to feel full. The band's "restriction" effect is not supposed to make you feel full. It's supposed to keep you from feeling hungry between meals, hopefully for at least 4 hours. Most people can eat more than 1 cup at a sitting, but successful bandsters eat their one cup and stop. They don't necessarily feel full, but they feel satisfied (not hungry) for several hours until it's time to eat again.

Some few lucky people seem to experience fullness, but more commonly, the feeling is satiety, which is a bit different. I could definitely eat more than I do at one sitting, but when I finish my 1 cup of food, I am no longer hungry and that satisfaction lasts me about 3 hours or so. Because I can't go 4 or more hours yet, I am hoping for another fill at my next appointment, but I'm only looking for the fill, not the full!

I have lost 92 lbs since nov 5,2012 and I currently only have 3 cc. I think I'm only going to get .5 more cc but the band is not the only thing that is required to lose weight. A lot of exercise and will power! Follow the drs orders and I promise you will have great results! Good luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
