I'm down 16 pounds in 2 weeks, although I've been on liquids that whole time. I've read people getting really hungry by this point, but I'm not. It's everything in me to get down the 2 Protein Shakes and one can of broth. That doesn't seem like enough food.....was anyone else like that? Plus, keep having diarrhea (over share I know, and I apologize) and was wondering if someone else felt my plight......

Hi there, I could have written your post at five days post-op!! I wasn't hungry at all, I chalked it up to the aesthetic and my stomach being swollen from the surgery, and I too was having diarrhea, which I think was related to being on the juices and clear fluids. I was thinking, hey, this is no problem, if I have no hunger, this is going to be a piece of cake!! Boy was I wrong!! My hunger came back with a vengeance about day 14 and I have been battling it ever since!! I am on puree foods now and want to eat everything in sight. It is all about willpower for me right now, and probably will be till I have some fills. So my word of advice, enjoy it while it lasts and concentrate on healing. Congrats on your decision to become a bandster!!

First week post op I had NO appetite and lost 20 pounds. When I started on full liquids I got really discouraged because I gained 5 pounds. It just now at week 3 came back off, so if that happens don't let it get you down. My hunger kicked in around day 15 and I felt head hungry all the time! It's been a learning curve, now I'm not so hungry all the time because I mostly ignore the head hunger but also I eat regular meals so that I don't feel so hungry. If you don't do that, your body goes into starvation mode and u don't lose :(

I'm day 10 post op I struggle to get in 300 calories most days and have been losing 2 lbs a day on average. I think the hunger and rate of weight loss are heavily influenced by how overweight you are. In my case my body seems to clearly think it's easier to break down the calories in storage than get the stuff coming in through my gob. I would actually appreciate a little more hunger so it would be easier to get my Protein in.

HI guys, I am glad I found this thread. I will be one week post op tomorrow. Did not have a pre-op diet and have lost about 15 lbs. in this week on all Clear Liquids. Tomorrow i start moist and mushy and am concerned about gaining weight back. also worried about how it goes down. Have had no problems with the liquids and don't get my first fill for another 3 weeks. Any advice?

I was only on clear liquids for 2 days then 2 weeks on only puréed/liquids. If you have trouble with any mushy food I guess I's suggest trying puréed foods and blended Soups for a couple days.

I started mushy foods today and have never looked forward to eating an egg like I have the past few days! I hate Soup now!! Lol. Still feeling a lot of restriction. I had one egg and a small spoonful of refrained Beans and was pretty full. Sometimes my stomach makes this really hard rumble that I think is it growling but then the feeling goes away immediately. Not sure what that is. I'm sorry to anyone I offended that are struggling with eating or constipated. Believe me, I feel for everyone and anyone and all their problems post op. I was telling my personal problems and hoping for answers or suggestions. I most def was not trying to rub it in that I wasn't hungry yet. Sorry guys

Well I am 5 days post op and my hunger is the kind that starts in the stomach and then goes to the back and it hurts. In taking nothing but fluids. I don't know how I can have the full feeling and still feel hunger pangs. Dealt with the Constipation and that was miserable OMG I would not wish that on my worst enemy. But other than that I feel everything else is mind over matter. I did not experience the nausea or the gas so I feel blessed and I have been on several outings with my kids since, so all is good. Good Luck everyone!!!

If you haven't experienced any gas perhaps what your assuming are hunger pangs are actually gas, that would explain why you feel full and the discomfort moves to your back. The next time it happens try using GAS-X and see if the "pangs" go away.

Everything you guys are experiencing is normal. Diarrhea cause liquid in-liquid out! Constipation due to pain meds-take Miralax! Hunger cause you're in bandster hell and restriction cause you're still swollen. This is the time to retrain the brain, the time when you rebel and show your body and mind who's the boss! The time when you become strong willed and learn portion control! You will be in bandster hell till about your third fill. If you don't do these things now along with exercise, you can gain your weight back, so be strong! You can do this!

Thanks That is what I needed to hear that what I am experiencing is either normal or mind over matter.

I had diarrhea too. I would ask the doctor if it is really bad. About the shakes, how much Protein is there in each shake? I have 52g in mine. I use 2 scoops of powder. Call your dietitian if you have food questions. I always call when in doubt

Good luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
