Three Weeks Post Op & Pain Under Left Rib Cage - HELP!!!
Hi everyone: I have so far had a pretty problem free (knock on wood) post op experience. I am three and a half weeks out, had minimal pain following the procedure and have lost approx. 25 lbs. Then, last night during the night, I felt a pain at the bottom of my rib cage on the left side. It has not gone away. I read that it could be constipation or gas and try drinking warm tea so that is what I am doing, but wanted to know if anyone had any knowledge about this and/or experience. Thank you!

What does stuck feel like?
YES, this really scares me too! I try to make the portions small and chew chew chew. I hear chicken can be a particular culprit. Also, someone wrote on a previous list to not let yourself get super hungry because then you are more likely to eat too fast and cause a stuck encounter. I pray this never happens to me.

First Fill Today
Glad to see this thread. I will have my first fill on April 10th - five weeks post op. I was wondering what it would feel like. They said they do 3 cc for the first fill. I have lost 23 lbs so far (3.5 weeks post op/no pre-op diet) and I am feeling great. I have to host a small get together at my house that evening for work. Do you think I should push the fill back a week? How did you feel physically afterward?

How Many Calories?
Thanks for the helpful information. I just want to make sure I am not taking in too many calories. I had a nutritional evaluation Wednesday and forgot to ask. I guess it is expected the weight loss will be slower now that I am not on clear liquids.

How Many Calories?
I am on my second week post-op. First week was all clear liquids. Now, I am on moist and mushy. Does anyone know how many calories you should be consuming at this point? I would say I am about 700-800.

One Week Post Op - Feeling Great!
It has been one week exactly that I was banded and I am honestly feeling great. Most of the pain from the surgery is gone and yesterday I started adding some "moist and mushy" food into the mix of clear liquids. Just a little and it has been OK. I am not really hungry so much, but do have head hunger and am trying to get over that. Today is my first day back to work and so far, so good. I have a post-op nutrition class and my post-op examination this afternoon. Am looking forward to getting more information on how to adjust to this new lifestyle. I am trying to be really positive about this and as a result, just more positive in my life in general.

5 days post op
HI guys, I am glad I found this thread. I will be one week post op tomorrow. Did not have a pre-op diet and have lost about 15 lbs. in this week on all clear liquids. Tomorrow i start moist and mushy and am concerned about gaining weight back. also worried about how it goes down. Have had no problems with the liquids and don't get my first fill for another 3 weeks. Any advice?

One Month Post Op
Wow! You ladies have lost a lot in just one month! Congrats! Were you on a pre-op liquid diet first? My doctor did not have me do that. I hope I still lose a lot in the first month! Keep up the good work!

March 2013 Surgery Dates?
I was banded yesterday at 11 a.m. at the surgi center and the staff was great! Felt a little queezy after but that dissipated once I got home. I was home by 3:15 and yesterday and today I have had some minor abdominal pain. It is hard to take the liquids because I just don't feel thirsty at all but I know we are supposed to. Been taking the percosets for pain (have to crush up and drink with my liquid - so gross) and trying to move around as much as possible. I do feel hungry though. I think this will be hard for a week of clear liquids. Hopefully it gets easier!

March 2013 Surgery Dates?
Thanks for the tips Molly. I have the low sodium broth (chicken) and gatorades and diet snapples. Am going to get the sugar free ice pops and sugar free jello today. Did not hear about the pillow and the heating pad - will have to look into that. Do you think it will be a problem that I have to go upstairs to my bedroom?

Am wondering if anyone has specific advice about how to prepare at home etc for the surgery?

March 2013 Surgery Dates?
My date is March 6th and while I am quite excited and hopeful, I am also a bit nervous. I guess that is natural. Just not sure what to expect relative to pain and I have two young children.

March 4 and excited!
That's great! I am going on the 6th and am a little nervous about what to expect. I did not have a pre-op diet so I am going to try now to find out about that. Wonder if that will make things easier.
