I thank god every day for showing me the lapband and sending a way for me to afford it - and for everyone who has come into my life because of it. I am thankful for so many blessings.

Today I'm so thankful the Lord led me to the proper people to schedule my fill. I have been leaving messages since the 11th and come to find out, the receptionist was giving me the wrong voice mail.

I am also thankful and praising God for providing us with the funds to pay monthly tuition so that my son can attend a Christian school.

I hope I'm gonna be forgiven for forgetting to come here on Sunday!

Praise God for a special I saw on Fox News about Rick Warren, which reminded me to pull out the Purpose-Driven Life again (I may have that title wrong, but you know what book I'm referring to?), and re-read it...God does work in mysterious ways...

I pray that His will is being done in all our lives as we serve Him through his Son, Jesus Christ.

Blessings to all.

My 7 month old Grandson has some immune system issues. The doctors are baffled. He is going to see a specialist in Nashville on Oct 18th. With my nursing background I fear it is Leukemia. I can't be certain though. But that is my gut instinct. SO keep him in your prayers. This will be devastating to our family.

October 18th is just too far away.

Penni ~ I will definitely pray for your precious grandson. I don't know much about leukemia however, my son did have a classmate in PreK last year that was diagnosed with it. She ended up in the local ER and sent her immediately to Indy b/c they thought it was leukemia. They said it was a good thing she came in when she did. She has been in treatment and is now in remission. She will be returning to school this year and taking it one day at a time. I have visited and called them often. I know a little bit from a friend's perspective how devastating this can be.

Seeing what this family has been through and learning what little I have, I would encourage the family to find out NOW and not wait until Oct. It could mean this little one's life. Maybe that's what you mean by Oct 18 is too far away. Bless his precious little heart. I am sending prayers up right now. Keep us updated!!

Penni, I am so sorry that your family is being challanged once again. I will keep your grandson in my prayers. If you want I will also add him to my mom's churchs prayer list. My band doc's son has leukemia and I know the heartbreak that they went through when he was first diagnosed. He is makeing progess, and he will attend regular school this year. He is getting stronger each day and the outlook is very good. Medical treatment for leukemia has come a long, tell you daughter to keep her chin up, with God all things are possible. 8 months ago we were told that Abigale most likely had a brain tumor and would need surgery, the MRI was clean. The afternoon before the MRI we took her to my moms church and she was anointed with oil and the deaconsall said a prayer over her. I believe in miracles. And I will pray for a miracle for your grandbaby. ~Mandy

I am so thankful for LBT and it's members. I am thankful that I know the Lord Jesus Christ and have accepted him as my personal savior and so has my immediate family. Salvation is wonderful but just to know that he is there with you every step of the way. Through your triumps and your stuggles he is right beside you and you don't even have to pick up the phone to call him. It is awesome that as soon as you say "I am so alone" "What am I going to do" you remember that he is there at that very moment and as you begin to start praising him and just being thankful for your many blessings....you can smile through the tears. I said to my daughter yesterday, what do people do who don't know God. It has to be something else. I am thankful that I believe.

Penni--

When you go through deep waters in great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fires of oppression you will not be burned up, for I am the Lord Your God - Isaiah 43:2-3 (LB)

The sweetest times in my life have been the most sorrowful. I've felt God's presence totally. My prayer for you Penni is that you feel God's presence in these difficult days.

:scalesno: Thanks in advance for the Prayes. I was banded 6-13-06 have only lost 22-24 lbs. I know i need to exercise more. I thought i would have tons of willpower, but not.I have struggled all my life with weight. I feel that i have no control over how much i eat.Maybe i am not eating right! B- High Protein Shake, L-chicken and cabbage,S- salad and chicken. I get plenty of fluids. It's like i am challenging the band to work for me because i am so used to being a failure.I know i am not the only one to feel this way. But i just wanted to let someone know, and in doing this i don't feel so all alone and scared. Thanks to you all for being there, for all of us.

Penni, your family will be in my prayers, too. I know October seems like a long time away...it is. I will pray for a miracle.

Slimwithin, you have done very well. I do not think you should feel that you are failing. You have lost 24 lbs! Praise God for your success! Ask God to give you goals that are realistic, because the only reason you are disapointed is because you are expecting too much. See yourself through His eyes...his beautiful creation. God does not make mistakes.

Blessing on you all.

Pam

I hope all goes well with your grandson. I am praying for him big time. I have two boys and I can only imagine how heart wrenching this is for the family. Keep a positive attitude. God's got it and all will be okay. Please keep us informed.

Sorry Penni,

I wrote your name as Pam. It was a typo. Please let us know your grandson's name. My church will lift him up in prayer on Sunday.

My prayers are with you and your family.

Hi Everyone,

I think this is a great thread that I should probably visit more often but here I am with a request for prayer.

Isaiah, a nine year old friend of my son, was just diagnosed last week with aml lukemia. Apparently it is often seen in children and the prognosis is not very good since the cancer was pretty advanced when they caught it.

He started chemo this week. I guess the hope is to eventually do a bone marrow transplant. Hopefully his sister will be a match because Isaiah is hispanic and I guess it can be difficult to find a doner.

Anyway, he is dealing with infections in his small intestine and lungs due to his compromised immune system. Right now the infections are not life threatening but could become so. They are continuing with the chemo because he will surely die if they don't.

This is a truly heart-breaking situation for everyone involved. Please pray for Isaiah, his dad Ryan and his sister Maddy.

To complicate matters even more, his mother is homeless and mentally unstable but continues to spend a lot of time at the hospital which is not always helpful and always stressful. Her name is Belinda and she needs prayer as well.

Thank you to the many LBT faithful! I will update when I hear something.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
