Banded March 13' date=' 2013.....have had two fills and I am not doing well. Haven't lost anything since surgery. Watched my diet and added exercise 3X a week. Until now seems I am on a binge.....have appointment with the doctor tomorrow for another fill. I am in the hunt for my green zone.[/quote']

Hang in there! I just had my third fill today--7.5 cc in total now. I am just now feeling the true restriction! My surgeon says some patients will not hit their green zone until 9.5! Patience is a virtue many if us lack, but we didn't get into this mess over night!

Down 45 lbs and counting! Already planning my 50 lb reward to myself!

Got my first "Have you lost weight?" At work yesterday!! I'm down about 22-25 pounds depending on the day. Lost 2 lbs between May and June fills 2 and 3. Still not lasting on 1/2 cup for 3-4 hours so looks like #4 fill on 7/29.

I'm ready for a big month of loss! Maybe it won't be 10 lbs but at this point I'd do a cartwheel for 8lbs!

I can do this, just have to hang in for a couple more fills! It's close I can tell!!

Hi everyone. I had surgery yesterday and came home today. I am very sore and tired and already sick of Protein Shakes. Can someone please tell me it's gonna get better? I know it has to but I just need to hear from others. I hate having to get up to go the bathroom. The pain is so bad. I'm afraid I won't get in enough Protein because I am sick of the shakes. Feeling depressed and questioning if I have done the right thing. Can you please share your stories? I also am fighting the pain medal because I hate the taste of that too. Thanks.for listening. Donna.

Hi Donna! Congratulations on taking your first step to losing weight!! Just like you when I came home from surgery I instantly regretted it. I was so upset I almost cried. However, I reminded myself how unhappy I was with my weight and how sick and tired I was of letting it get in the way of my life. It DOES get better. Right now you are absolutely miserable, but within a few days you will feel better bit by bit and the weight will start falling off. Now as a nurse, are you keeping up on the pain meds that they gave you? It is much easier to control pain before you have it, then after. If it helps, maybe you should try making a list of the reasons you had the surgery and what you want to accomplish from the surgery. It will help you see why you did it in the first place and get you EXCITED for what is to come! I had my surgery on March 28th at 253 pounds. Right now I am 212 and in desperate need of a fill, but feeling GREAT!! Don't give up yet, you've just began the first step of your new life!

Thank you Ash. I am crying now but I know you are so right. I don't want to fail. I feel like such a wimp because I did not have to do a pre op diet yet I am already sick of the shakes. Those of you that did a one or two week pre op are my Heros. My husband just gave me the liquid Tylenol. He said the same thing you did. I also take another pill at night that is a capsule form. I had to open it and put it in my shake. I can't believe we can't swallow a capsule. Is that forever too? Is it normal to be thinking about food too? Thanks so much for letting me vent. I so appreciate your comments. Donna

Have you tried mixing in fruit or sugar free pudding and putting it in a blender? I did that and it made it much more tolerable. Are you feeling hungry at all? After my surgery I wasn't hungry and forced myself to eat soft foods. I've never heard anything about not being able to swallow a capsule after surgery. I was given Hydrocodone pills for pain and had no problems getting those down. It's totally normal to think about food!!! How often did all of us think about it before?! That won't go away quite yet, but I find myself now forgetting to eat because I'm not hungry so it'll come. It will help you a lot in the next weeks to keep yourself busy! You may not have much of a restriction and your surgeon won't likely give you a fill quite yet so you'll need to keep your mind off of food. It helped me to work out and catch up on some reading. I felt much better a couple days after my surgery because I started dropping weight and I'm sure you will too. This website is an amazing support group and resource for anything you need, especially venting! :P

Thank you Arc. I have a nurse coming today so I am going to ask her about the capsule. Hopefully everyday will be better. Right now I am just very sore and have such a headache. No gas pain though. I had it in the hospital and the walking really helped.

It's been better every day. I still cannot sleep on my side. The port incision still hurts especially after the infection. How long does it usually take to sleep on your side again? Also do I think if I took pain meds at night that it would help with that? Thank you for listening!

It still hurts for me to sleep on my side so I don't. I get the occasional port pain as well. I think you should keep on top of your pain meds. Take it as the dr directed which I am assuming is every 4 hours? This is hard to do while you sleep but you may just have to plan to take your pain meds before bedtime.

I had my surgery the same day and I also plateaued. When I went to my NUT appointment, she told me I wasn't getting in my calories and Protein for the day so my body was thinking I was starving it so it kept everything I was eating as if I was not going to eat again. When I got all my ducks in a row...proteins, calories and Water. I was back to losing....5lbs the first week and 2 the next. I hope my body keeps in the losing line. This is my story I hope it helps.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
