Doc not willing 2/c me

Recommended Posts

Shop around for a fill location. I know that the folks that go to Mexico, find fill locations here in the USA. Best wishes to you!

I just found these docs/ clinnics who are willing to take me,

Bronxville bariatrics, westchester county (300-500 fill)

NYU bariatrics, manhattan (500 fill)

Jacobi hospital bariatrics (made appt w their surgeon) take all major insurance, no self paid

I also found several private clinics in Teaneck, NJ, Brooklyn, NY, Long Island

St. Luke's hospital in NYC

I don't think the costs you mention are unheard of. My Dr office was billing my insurance $600 for a "visit" with fill, NUT session, all my fills now are done with fluoro. This year, it is $700 per visit. This is a summary of my recent visits bill:$700.00 Bill received by Aetna on 12/19/2012Your Aetna member rate $364.03Your total responsibility: $72.80Included: Office visit = $100Fluoroscopic Guidance $125Contrast XRAY Upper GI Tract $175Adjustment Gastric Band $300

My insurance company has been changed (I'm no longer with Aetna) and I'm not sure they will cover any of the costs, so the prices I was quoted were for self pay fills. With my old insurance I didn't have to pay out of pocket for fills for a year so I was surprised the costs were as low as they were.

Nyu!!!! Yesss all the doctors there are so nice and sweet! They take all sorts of insurance.. I have crappy insurance and they take mine lol

And I know what your saying about the ER! If you tell them you don't have a surgeon in NY,

they will give u the referral to a specific doctor in the discharge papers, with that referral the doctor almost always takes the patient.

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
