Almost a year!!! Slow, slow, slow.....

Recommended Posts

Well.... It will be a year next month and I've only lost 20 lbs!!!!!. So frustrated, depressed. Doctors found that my thyroid was sluggish so they started me on medicine 2 months ago. I exercise, eat no more than 1200 calories a day. Has this happen to anyone? Any advice? :(

Hang in there. I have thyroid issues also and it does impact your rate of weight loss. You need to accept that you are going to lose a little slower, but don't use your thyroid as an excuse. Since you are new to the medication, it may take a little time to get your dosing at the right level to help.

Good news is that I am still losing and I was banded over 2 1/2 years ago.

There is nothing wrong with losing slowly. At least you aren't gaining, right? Celebrate the 20 lbs and keep on doing the right stuff-journaling, exercising, eating lots of Protein and drinking lots of Water.

Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? Who won the race in the end???

Good luck.

Hang in there. It is amazing how much a small gland in your body can reek such havok on your hormones. My Thyroid went bad 2 years ago and I was told that once you get your meds right it could take at least 6-8 months to start seeing any weight loss. Don't give up, you can beat this bump in the road. An inspiring quote I have all around my house is "Keep moving forward" ~Walt Disney.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
