baparrett70 got a reaction from loseit in Slow Loser :(
I go back next week also for a fill. I'm hoping this will put me in the green zone too. Its solo frustrating. Especially when see how much weight other people have lost in a short period of time. Praying we all hit the green zone and the weight starts falling off.

I just had my 5th fill and now at 5.5cc's. The amount of fill does not really matter some people dont have any fill and loose weight with just placement. There are a lot of people that say the band is just a tool and you have to work at it and thats true but lets be real we all paid ( at least I did selfpay ) nearly 10k for a tool that needs to work. So today I spoke with my doctor and told him i am unsatisfied with the results and that we need to be more agressive and he agreed so I got a full cc that brought me to the 5.5cc. I am a slow looser and eating a cup of food on empty stomach with no restriction is like being on a diet before lap band hugry all the time and feeling defeated. My suggestion to all paitence is to be agressive with your doctor he or she is employed by us and we need to be assertive. If you are not loosing and you feel like you have been doing your part tracking calories and walking or some sort of excersize 30 min a day then he or she needs to do thier part to help get you to the green zone. Thats my two cents I hope it helps someone. As for me I am 5 months post op and have lost 10lbs, but feel like Im finally closer to my green zone.

I have heard of people doing this as well and having success. My pouch was dilated at one point due to being too tight, and i had to have an un-fill and be on liquids for a while. I now look at it the same as when you get a fill you are supposed to be on liquids for a few days as your stomach adjusts, and it does always jump start weight loss for me, I suspect you are not quite at the right restriction level, and probably need another fill? I am at a little over 6cc's and it is a good level, but takes a while to get there. My first year was frustrating, and first few months I only lost 11 pounds. I lost a total of 60 pounds the first year and thought I was a failure at the band too, then I realized, 60 pounds is a lot more than I ever lost before... and continued to lose. Hang in there!

Do NOT get discouraged. Everyone loses differently. My weight loss did not pick up until my band was over half full and that was six months after surgery. I was losing a pound or two a month and now I'm losing a pound or two a week. Push...follow your plan, good things are coming your way.
Remember, Protein first, solid foods, Water and exercise. Oh yeah, B.E.L.I.E.V.E in youself!

There is no answer to the age old question of why do I not lose faster. For me, I didn't exercise much and I ate about 1500-1700 calories a day, or thereabout. I rarely tracked food.
Even if you could say I eat 1000 calories per day, I exercise off 700 per day, and I've had all my blood work checked and my metabolism is normal, we still could not guarantee you would lose 2-3 pounds per week. Our bodies just don't work that way. Personally, I think you are doing just fine, keep up the good work. There are plenty of us slow losers on here. Don't compare yourself to others. Just do your thing and get to where you want to go.

I am not sure what your starting weight is....but if you have more to loose...you usually loose quicker your first few months. My weight loss seems to stall for about two weeks and then I loose a couple of pounds. I am trying to eliminate my shakes and concentrate more on actual Protein like chicken, tuna...etc. I hope that helps me a little.

Welcome to my world. I lost 5 pounds in the first 3 months! (so you lost more than double that in less time)
Then, I woke up. Now I'm down 32 (in the last 2 1/2 months). Here's what I suggest (and what I did):
1- go to your doctor and get advice
2- go on a healthy diet (my favorite is the Slow Carb Diet) and track it on something like myfitnesspal.com
3-drink lots of Water. RiteAid have these great 32oz bottles. Drink 2 a day.
4 -increase your activity. It doesn't have to be an hour gym workout....it is as simple as adding in walking in as many parts of your day as you can. Put a pedometer in your pocket (or a fitbit) and shoot for 10,000 steps a day. Get a big, energetic dog that needs long walks.
5- take your body measurements so you have another way to measure your success. Do it NOW while you're still big because it will be SOOOO satisfying later when you see the difference. (I started at a 42 waist and now I'm down to 37---can't wait to see 30).
I hope these ideas help. Keep in mind that all of us are different, with different metabolisms, bodies, and even different stomach bacteria ( 3 different kinds). We have different doctors who give us different advice. There is no absolute consensus in these forums on what you have to do to be successful but there is a general theme in most posts to eat healthy, exercise, drink water, listen to your doctor, and most of all be patient.

I am in the same boat as you are! I was banded 3/5 and have only lost 12 lbs so far. Very discouraging, but the tips from other banisters has kept me positive thru it all. We just have to find the right combination of nutrition, exercise, and restriction and hopefully the weight will come off! Keep your chin up!

When people start from liquids to solids or mushies, they usually regain some weight. It's normal, don't get discouraged.
