Leave denied by work

Long ago, I heard "You can be right, or you can be in a relationship." You probably need to be in this relationship (with your principal) since your job depends on it. Personally, I wouldn't fight her over this. As far as having a tough class that subs don't want to come to, too bad. Make your appointment during one of the few days you have available to you and go. Getting coverage for your class in your absence is not your problem. Another option is to let them dock your pay for one day's pay (in our district it's the cost of the sub) and add that (in your mind) to the cost of seeing your doctor. Some hills are not worth dying on.

I am sorry that your principal is being a jerk. Unfortunately, if you go against your principal's instructions-- it will leave a bad taste in her mouth. If you are not tenured, then your job could be on the line. Once, I missed a few professional development days, and the BOE let me do alternative training later on in the school year. If you do not go, try not to let your frustration show toward your principal. She will pick up on it. Also, I found that venting only to a select few family and friends, helped out tremendously. I hope the best for you.

If you used FMLA for your surgery then a follow up appointment MAY be covered if they don't want to get picky. But the more obvious question... Is it possible for you to get a dr who isn't 3 hrs away? Then you could go on your lunch hour or before or after work....

Other doctors around here wouldn't do the procedure on me. They said I was too fat for the lapband.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
