Hi all!

I am 2 months post op, and have lost 53 lbs too date. But the past almost 3 weeks now the scale hasn't budged. I go to the gym a minimal of 3x a week for about and hour on the treadmill at a fast pace with an incline. . I eat around 800 calories a day tracking on my fitness pal. I don't eat much carbs..

Just wondering if anyone has advice to get the scale moving again ;)

3 weeks isn't much of a plateau but you should be mixing up your diet occasionally. If your body is in starvation mode it will slow down your metabolism. Maybe jump up the calories for this weekend to 1400 each day to fool your body out of the starvation mode? Change up your exercise program too? Don't keep eating the same food and working out the same way every day.

3 weeks with no weight loss is not considered a plateu. Between 6 and 8 weeks with no weight loss then you can consider yourself in a plateu. You will not lose weight every single week after a certain amount is lost. As you lose your body slows down and you have to burn more calories then you are taking in.

Thank you for the responses!

I think I was in a bit of a panic because the scale didnt budge an inch..

But I am happy to say I took your advice, increased my calories and switched up my excersise and was able to lose another 4 lbs, glad to have the ball rolling!

Just curious, you hear a lot of 'muscle weighs more then fat'... Is it possible from the excersise that I'm building the muscle an maybe that's why the scale didnt move for awhile?

It's probably both. More muscle mass and more Fluid retention.

Wow I'd give anything to be at 53 pounds lost ;) but I know how you feel. It's so hard not to see the scale go down. I have given up weighing myself even weekly (stopped daily a long time ago) because it induces depression. This past month I'd only lost 2 pounds BUT it was still a loss. There will be ups and downs and fast and slow but the whole journey will be worth it. Hang in there and don't give up. Listen to the good suggestions here - change things up if it will help. Best of luck to you!

Hi Julie!

I can't figure out how to add friends on there..

But my name is Courtnin07 if you want to add me.

I increased my Protein a bit more and my Water intake seemed to really help :-)

I think we've all gone through that. Try not to freak out (even though its hard not to, lol). More Water and more Protein are a good start. Your exercise sounds great but I suggest mixing it up to trick your body. The more weight you lose, the harder you are going to have to work during exercise in order to burn the same amount of calories you were burning 50lbs ago! What about trying a new machine at the gym, a class, or adding weight training?

Congrats on your 53lb weight loss and keep up the great work.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
