How yall doing?

Me: not the best :/ banded 1/25 and down 15 lbs since surgery. I have 4.5 ccs in and am hungry quite often so then i eat too much. And i probably could be making better use of my calorie intake.

I go in for another fill tomorrow. And i havent really lost any weight since last appt 2 weeks ago. (Although im on my period and may be retaining Water?) i dunno for some reason im just kinda down

Try to focus on Protein, this will help you to cell fuller and less hungry. Drink lots of Water though the day. Don't feel down, we are all a work in progress!

Hi y'all. I was banded January 2nd n I'm down 30 lbs. I've been consistently loosing about 1 1/2 pounds a week but I did go through a plateau for about 3 or 4 weeks. Feeling great! I've been tracking all my calories (or most) on my fitness pal n working out about 3-5 Times a week. How are you doing out there??

Sounds like you guys are doing well. I'm doing so-so. The weight is coming off fine...39 lbs since the first of the year, but my knee is still giving me alot of trouble. I know of other bandsters with knee issues that are walking with almost no pain, or have given up the cane and I'm just not there yet. It's better, but I still need the cane and I'm still taking shots for pain. I am trying to be patient and I tell myself it didn't get this way overnight and it won't get better overnight either but I must admit I was hoping for more improvement at this point. I'll just have to focus on the little improvements and hope that it gets better down the road.

Hi everyone,

I was banded on 1/24/13. Down 28 lbs, but this week I've been starving! Don't know why. I've only had one fill (3cc's) so far. I can't wait for my next fill on April 1.

Also, I'm having a burning/stinging pain around my port. Any thoughts?

I was banded 1/11 and I'm down 36 lbs. I've had the burning and stinging around my port also, texas gal.. I got a fill last Thursday 3/14 and it took my Dr a few trys to get the needle in the right spot, so I was thinking maybe that's why I'm having the burning/ stinging pain. Any other thoughts?

Did you just get a fill or something? Is it red? Did you do something to possibly tear it or bother it? I had that 3 weeks post op when I bent down to pick something up and I was wearing jeans that were snug at the time, and my fat roll kind rolled over the top of the jeans, and my port along with it, and I had burning pain in my port for like a week. Needless to say, I am VERY careful at bending down now lol!

I had my first fill three weeks ago. I went back to the gym 2 weeks ago, so I don't know if that might be causing the discomfort around my port area.

Hello all I haven't posted in here in a min. I'm really doing great. I was banded on Jan 21 2013 and have since lost 38 pounds. I'm working out 5 days a week, and I feel great. I also had two fills since being banded. My last fill was on tuesday. I will give it time to see if it helps. But all in all I'm happy. How is everyone else doing.

Great job ladybabie. Good for you. I was banded on January 14th and I weigh in every Sunday. I hit a pretty big number today. Down a total of 40 lbs. I have very bad arthritis in my knee so I can't move around too well but I joined the Y last week and am exercising in the pool. I'm looking to get in the Water 2-3 times a week...not so much for burning calories but to strengthen my knee. I haven't had any fills yet...so far I'm not looking to eat between meals and I am doing OK sticking to around 1,000 calories daily so my dr. says to leave everything as is for now.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
