Greetings from The Palmetto State - S.C. I was banded December 21st. I'm sore as the devil - not exactly sure where the soreness is originating. I have really enjoyed reading posts on the board. What a wealth of knowledge.

Good morning everyone! Well, it sure sounds like a lot of us are still feeling 'backed up' and I guess that is normal at this point. LOL!

I did weigh myself and the scale says I'm down 3 pounds from the 18th (surgery day) … not bad considering my lack of activity and 'potty time'! :D

My incision sites don't hurt much at all, but I think I may still be a little swollen so wearing jeans is probably not such a great idea as of yet.

How is everyone else feeling today??

Im feeling pretty good this morning. Yesterday I had over 34oz fluids and some yummy organic butternut squash Soup (w/added Protein powder) for dinner. Supposed to be ob creamed Soups but since im lactose intolerant I modified my soups. I felt like i walked a few miles through my house yesterday as I tried to keep mov ing to help with that left shoulder gas. OH & guess who had a "movement" yesterday. This chick did! From what ive read im sure it will be days before that happens again. Looking forward to a good day today. Im t ft ying really hard not to hop in the car &drive somewhere (anywhere). Dr.'s Booklet said drive after 1 week. His post op instructions said 24hrs if not using pain meds. Im gonna try to stick w/1 week even thouhh not on meds.

Just curious how much liquid are you all able to take in? I'm having a very hard time getting much down. Comfortably I can take in 60ml Water, Protein, Jello, etc. I was in trouble yesterday by the doctor because I'm not getting enough water to lead to BM? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Also has anyone tried to swallow a pill yet? If so did it go down ok? I was banded 12/19/12.

I actually just told my hubby that I needed to up my Water intake.

I don't feel any real big restriction, so taking in water or other liquids has not been a problem. I have not kept track of ounces per say, but I know my Protein Shakes are about 11 oz. per container and when I have my Soup it is about a half cup to a cup at a time and no more than 2 times per day. As for water, tea, and low-cal/sugar juice I am having one regular size glass at a time; about 6-8 oz.

Ok, thanks for info. I'm not sure why I feel so restricted unless its swelling. I've tried for 25 minutes to get down 3 oz of Protein Shake but have experienced more contractions of the stomach and gurgling sounds.

Be careful to follow what your dr. Instructed. Ive read not to exceed 2oz-3oz Fluid intake at a time to avoid naseau & also told by dr. Not to exceed 4oz of food or I could risk stretching my newly formed pouch.

That means my 32 32 + daily oz of liquid that I drank ,I drink at 2 or 3 ounces each time with about 20 to 15 minutes in between. Make sense?

Savage it sounds about right it should take about 20 minutes to get down 3 ounces of liquid if you do it the right way slowly slipping it

UntamedR: Thanks for the input. I went back and read my instructions for post op and the recommendation was 1/4 c liquid at a time. I'm glad you are following a similar guideline. Was nervous when others were not having restrictions. Best of luck to you. We need to stay in touch through this process.

Ok, now Im having major anxiety, because I was never told no more than 4 oz. At a time! So, what does 4 oz. look like in a measuring cup? 1/2 cup? I need an exact measurement please.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
