I was banded 12-12-12. I'm starting to feel almost normal again. The gas pains are almost all gone. As far as the bathroom thing... I had to finally take some milk of magnesium and it worked like a charm. I feel 100% better after I got that part moving again. It even released all the gas in my shoulder. Know it may sound crazy but it feels great. Of course I called dr to ask if I could take it and I'm glad I did. From my PRE op diet till today I'm down 20 lbs !!!

I sent hubby to the store for some Milk of Mag … hopefully that will get things 'going'!

Everything else feels great … I don't feel the band in there and the puncture wounds feel like they're healing well. The gas is the only annoying part, but everyone's posts are assuring that they'll pass.

As for the 'menu mapping' I mentioned earlier … I mapped out all the guidelines my doc and nutritionalist gave to me. A list of what, how, and when foods can be eaten post-op. I know everyone gets varied advice, but this is what they have told me, so I broke it down and plotted it out by weeks.

Just banded 12/19. No probs or anything. Just regular gas pains. Using gasx & walking to dispel it. Just started soups/protien shakes.< /p>

My story is a little different. I was originally banded in Aug 2010 but my band slipped :(

I just had revision surgery on 12/19/12 and its like starting all over again. I may know a bit more because I was already banded, but I am back on liquids and Protein Shakes and I'm starting from scratch. Lets do this together!

You are not alone. We are all in this together. It will get better soon.

All of you that aren't "going" believe me that you don't want the opposite. The antibiotics have caused havoc but I should have expected it as that's a common occurrence for me.

Really wish I could get rid of the gas pains. Ugh.

Yet another difference in surgeons. I did not receive antibiotic. Are you on antibiotics because of the surgery?

Jai, they may have given u a massive dose in ur iv b4 surgery. I only know about mine because I'm allergic to some so she announced it & told me what kibd she was giving me as she set it up. I didn't get any afterward though. Did anyone get a spirometer thingy to breathe into? It was in a bunch of my books but they never mentioned it. I had one from a previous surgery and used it before & now to help my lungs stay clear while I was laying around. Im up & walking alot again so its all good.

I got antibiotics and a spirometer. Each surgeon is different. So strange.

Yes. They gave me antibiotics to ensure no infections. And I have no idea if they gave me anything via IV. I didn't even make it to the OR before I was out of it and when I woke my IV was out.

I'm not aware of any antibiotics that I was given, either. Perhaps it was via IV. I haven't gone #2 either, will get some "stuff" over the weekend if I can't get things moving then. :)

Any of you feeling like you can't drink Water very fast yet? I can drink bigger swallows, but still can't down 8 oz like I used to be able to. I really hope that is something that goes away - I really like being able to drink a big glass of water!

Hi Leigh!! I'm so glad you started a little group for all the December bandsters. It will be great hearing how others are doing along their journeys.

I was banded on the 18th. Am doing ok' date=' still feel pretty swollen and tight around my sternum. Some air pressure, but not tons. Am off my pain meds, just using ibuprofen now. I'm having more of a mental issue now then anything, wondering if I did the right thing, scared of never feeling "normal" again, etc. I'm sure that many people go through that once they get banded. I hope as I start to feel better those feelings will go away.[/quote']

I got banded on the 19 and am going thru the same. I am very weak and sleepy. It will get better. Lets hang in there

I was told no more than 4 ozs at a time with very small sips. Though Water passes thru you don't want to somehow stretch the pouch.

They gave me a lot of stuff via IV … antibiotics + a blood thinner to void off blood clots. To go home, they sent me with a spirometer and a big ol' blue pillow that has the name of the hospital screen printed on it with a silver marker attached to it so friends and family can sign it for me! :) The pillow is so I can hold it tight against my tummy and give some good coughs.

I got my milk of mag from the store, but still not 'movement' … ugh! My belly keeps bubbling though. I am not hungry, but I did enjoy a small cup of butternut squash Soup earlier. I do think I need to get down more Water. I, too, was told that nothing should be going down in big or fast gulps … sips are good for now on!

:D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
