I was banded on 12/12 and I burp SO much! It doesn't feel like reflux and is so relieving every time I do. I notice it happens a lot after I eat also which I'm only on full liquids.

I do have a little reflux and I take Prilosec every day but like I said, this doesn't feel like anything is coming back up, it just feels relieving...

Is burping like this hurting my band? Did anyone else have this?

I burp like it is my job, full belly, empty belly, liquids, food, chicken, meatballs - burping loud and proud. 3 months out. Since the day I started my preop liquids I have not taken 1 antacid, zero heartburn............so if I have to burp, so be it, would rather that then heartburn. I don't think it is hurting anything except my ladylike reputation :o

ur doing just fine just getting rid of all the air from surgery , however I agree with wildrose I still haven't stopped it's become my job also at any time but I don't have the acid reflux or heartburn like I had before surgery cause the surgeon did my hiatial hernia also so I just have the air all the time either way mostly on the front end tho sometimes the back end so I let people not to get to close when that happens lol, so it's normal also just sip slowly, good luck.

Whew... am I ever so proud to read its not just me! I am seriously in the #notsoladylike boat with y'all! Loud and proud! My 85 year old aunt explained it like this; top or bottom, there's always more room on the outside! Gotta love her! Congrats everyone!

I had my surgery in September and I burped and passed gas forever. I just realized that the last few weeks I haven't been doing it. So thankfully it got better. Good luck.

I also had the band on 12/12 and I'm burping some but still in a whole lot of pain and very very swollen!!! I was told most people feel better and can go back to work in 3 to 4 days but it has been five days now and my top of stomach is so swollen and I have pain in my left side and my back!! Bad!!!!! I had a severe stomach surgery last year to remove some rumors I was told I had some scar tissue was thinking maybe that's why I hurt so bad... Had anyone else had this problem?

I was banded 11/16 and hurt for almost 3 weeks. They fixed a hernia I didn't know about, and have had several other surgeries also. Lots of scar tissue in there so it takes a bit longer. As I was told, sip sip sip and walk walk walk and lots of gas-x strips. Don't be too hard on yourself. You can do this!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
