Clothing and Style

I know this may sound very vain to some and I'm sorry, but how did many of you deal with the clothing issue doing weight loss? I have always tried to dress nice no matter what size I am. I have gained weight and got approved for the band. I can't wear some of my nice shoes and clothes and have remained steadfast (although its HARD) to not buy any new shoes or clothes for awhile. Can someone help me with suggestions or encouragement?

  • I bought a couple of outfits from discount stores to keep something that fit. A lot of folks use Goodwill and I have found they have great deals... sometime on name brands with label still attached.

I have found a lot of good deals at thrift stores and consignment shops. I buy a few new things that may be a little snug with room to lose more and not be baggy. I wouldnt go completely nuts but buy a little as you go. You could also look into having some things taken in. I have a beautiful dress that I am having shortened and taken in. Its a size 20 but I am not a 14. Most places charge about 5 to 7 dollars to take in clothes which is cheaper then buying new clothes.

Thank you. I will look into that as well! Getting them taken in don't distort them too much?

Well you can only go in a couple of inches before it wouldnt look right but its better then buying new clothes for now. Or if you know someone with a sewing machine that would do it for less.

Vj, just wanted to let you know you got me motivated by this post and I went through my closet and got rid of a lot of clothes today, actually I had a really fun time trying on pants and finding they are too big :).

And I see you are from Louisville, I'm only about an hour away from you in Northern Kentucky, not too far from Cincinnati.
