Losing my hair....still!!!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Aug 21, 2012 and have been experiencing massive amounts of Hair loss. It's gotten so bad my husband has to unclog the shower drain 1-2 times a week. Thankfully I had a ton of hair but I wonder when this is going to stop! Anyone else experience this and what did you do???

my Hair loss was the worst between months 3 and 5. I had the same issue with drains clogging. Since then it's gone back to normal. I didn't do anything different, and I don't take Biotin. Hopefully your hair will get back to normal soon.

Thank you! I'm hoping it will all work itself out soon. I hope you are all doing well on your journey :)

This is normal, as your body is adjusting to a whole new lifestyle/diet

I know it's tough but try waiting it out, and don't let the hairloss freak you out

My advice:

Make sure to get adequate Protein

Take a once a day Vitamin

Take 5,000 mcg Biotin daily

Take a zinc lozenge (my doc said zinc deficency can cause hair loss)

If it doesn't stop after a few months then get your hormones/thyroid checked out (simple blood test)

So far my hairloss slowed down but my hair still has not regrown (hopefully it will soon!)

Biotin helps with Hair loss also. I took 1000 mcgs a day. Helped tremendously!

I lost a lot of hair also. I have read on here about Biotin and started a few months ago which has slowed the loss and it seems to be getting some new growth, but it is so hard to tell since my hair got so thin from the surgery. It has been 4 years since my surgery and I have other tricks to make my hair look a little less thin. I have changed my Centrum Vitamins to the chewable fruit flavor (had a coupon) and found out it has less vitamins then the orange flavored tabs and need to go back to my original Centrum since I have been so tired and dragged out. We have to get used to not being able to eat a lot and need the supplement for health and maintenance. I need to read the labels more instead of just saving a few dollars. I cannot live without my vitamins since this surgery.Anybody else have the same issue?

I was banded on 11/15/2012 and have yet to experience Hair loss. Does this mean it might happen later on? :/ I have been taking Biotin since 2 weeks prior to surgery and it has increased my Hair growth. I pray it continues, my hair is thin enough as it is thanks to the flat Iron I used on a daily basis. lol Good luck to all! Hope things work out. :)

I was banded dec 10th, 2012.... my hair is very thin and dry, so any loss would freak me out.

If i start Biotin now will that help?

I have thin hair that is falling out too! I was banded in Oct. My doctor suggested more Vitamins (I was very deficient), more Protein and Biotin. I haven't gotten the Biotin yet. I certainly hope it stops because grad school has been giving me gray hair, I don't need to have the rest fall out on top of it :)

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
