COLD WEATHER

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I've been banded for about 8mths now, whew it has been a journey (trial and error). About 3 days ago I began to feel tight and not have much of an appetite. liquids stay down just fine but solid foods not so much. There's been no change, but the weather has got cooler. I live in TX and this is our first cold snap. Is the band affected by weather, has anyone else had this issue? Just curious

I have not noticed a seasonal difference in my band.

I'm from Colorado, a cold front coming in...will let yah know if cold wreathed affects band. I think any elevation or weather change can affect the band along with viruses and colds, salt intake, time of month, travel, stress, among many things.

Anything & everything can effect the band and it is different for each of use. My band keeps me on my toes....I never know what each day will bring.

I like my band looser rather than tighter and I have gotten unfills before for the very reason you mention. If you are uncomfortable call you doctor and have a little take out. You can always put it back in a few weeks. That is what I would do.

Best wishes & bee warm!!

My band responds to EVERYTHING! Temp changes, time of day, allergies and my emotions. Also, dropping 66 lbs. I am often colder than anyone else.

And yes How bout dem COWBOYS!

My band changes with hot and cold temps. I am in Wisconsin. Last summer when we were near 100 degrees I had to get some taken out. No issues until yesterday when were in single digits. I need to go today to have some taken out, can't even keep Water down! However, I am sick with a "cold" (flu? virus? - lots of mucus and drainage) so that could also be playing a role???

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
