High protein pre-op diet verses liquid pre-op diet

I am on a high protine pre-op diet that is intended to help deplete the liver of its glycogen stores prior to the operation to help shrink the liver. It consist of 1000 calories a day, 100 grams of protein a day, and 2 quarts of water. They have me drinking five 8oz bottles of Slimfast high protein drinks and a combination of hardboiled eggs, yogurt, and cottage cheese to equal 100 grams of protein. That is the diet they have me on right up to my surgery. Is anyone else on that type of prep diet? It doesent sound like it and I havent had any of the symptoms people on the liquid pre-op diet have described in other forums here. I feel full all the time and almost have a difficult time eating everything I am supposed to each day. I am on my 3rd day of my prep for surgery on the 14th Dec.

all that and it only comes up to 1,000 cal ? great that sounds like a diet I should do 4 mos out. I was told to do only protient shakes couldn't do it. cant wait to hear what others think.

Hi I think you need to revisit your diet. I looked up online and slim fast ready to drink high protein is 190 calories. So if you have 5 of those in 1 day that would be all of your calories for the day. It seems the options you were given are probably instead of the slimfast not with the slim fast.

My pre-op diet consists of 2 protein shakes and 1 meal of 3 oz meat, 1 cup veg and some fruit and no dairy. I've been mixing my shakes with soy milk.
