November 25, 201213 yr I'm just curious, how long does the procedure take? I can't remember what the doctor said.
November 25, 201213 yr Author al depends on paient' date=' but generally 3-4 hrs[/quote'] Wow! That's a long time. I figured it was an hour!
November 25, 201213 yr Just plain band surgery doesn't take so long. I had band replacement and plication and I think that was about two hours.
November 25, 201213 yr Wow! That's a long time. I figured it was an hour! Surgery is an hour, but 30 mins set up and 30 recovery. Least that's how mine was.
November 25, 201213 yr then again, my Dr. did mention loosing her Beemer keys...now that I recall ....lol... jk
November 25, 201213 yr I was on the table at 8am, remember asking the recovery nurse the time at 10:20 and home by 11:30. Think the actual surgery was about 1hr-1hr15m. I was on the operating table for a bit while they did the IV and hooked me up to the monitors.
November 25, 201213 yr I went to the OR at 1:15 I was in recovery by 2:30 and that was with the prep in the OR once I got there. I think it depends on the surgeon, how many he has done, and other things. He said it took him 45 minutes from start to finish.
November 25, 201213 yr They quoted me 1 hour for the lapband only surgery, but I ended up being over 2 hours since he fixed my hiatal hernia (had no clue I had it, you sign a waiver that consents he can fix it while in there doing lapband) and got the lapband at the same time.
November 25, 201213 yr My band surgery took 45 minutes according to my dr. I was put out at 1230 and was awake by 2p
November 25, 201213 yr My surgeon jokes that any surgery lasting longer than 15 mins, he's bored! It would depend on what he finds when he is in there. My surgey was pretty normal, and I would say that with the prep and everything, I was about 3 hrs from prep to waking up. My son, was in surgery, however, for approx 2 hrs, when the surgeon discovered that he had organs moved around due to an accident as a teenager. So, the surgeon fixed his organs. But, he was out of surgery and in recovery and home from the hospital in about 6 hours total. Not sure if that helps. I was trying to say, it depends on what happens when he is doing the surgery! karen
November 25, 201213 yr Surgery is an hour' date=' but 30 mins set up and 30 recovery. Least that's how mine was.[/quote'] That's about right. Mine was 1:45.
November 25, 201213 yr I was in at 8:00 and home by 11:30. Actual surgery with plication was 45 minutes.
I'm just curious, how long does the procedure take? I can't remember what the doctor said.
