  1. That's too bad Mark. The first question I will ask is did you follow nutrition guidelines? Did you follow directions on what and how much to eat? The band is only a tool not a miracle cure. You must work very hard at helping the band do its job by eating the correct foods and amounts. I would get an appointment with a nutritionist ASAP to help you with food planning, then I'd go back to the Dr. For a check up to make sure your band is ok. You certainly can do this, but it takes determination and will. Good luck and you will have a lot of support here on this forum.

    First fill

I had my first fill today and I was banded on 11/28. The entire process took less than 5 seconds. He made me lay back with my hands behind my head and asked me to do a slight sit up so he could feel the port. Then he injected the port with 3 cc's of fluid. I did the drink test and was on my way. Fluids are required for 24 hours, then one day of soft foods. If tolerable, move to solids.

    November bandsters Unite

Hi all, I was banded 11/28 and I'm down 20 pounds. I finally started working out this week so hopefully it will start coming off a bit more. I'm able to eat more than I did and I'm a little worried. I get so hungry - it's like all of a sudden if I don't eat it's almost painful. I do track my food and I'm averaging about 1200 calories per day with the main source coming from protein. I go to the Dr for my second follow up this Wednesday so we will see.
  4. I'm 10 days post op and am eating mushy foods. Mainly soups/ hard boiled eggs. I'm not getting in a lot of calories because I'm full but I have to go to a holiday party tonight. Do you think it's too soon to partake in a small glass of wine? I probably won't drink unless I eat some more but just want to get some feedback?

    10 days post op?

The centers for bariatric excellence are doctors that have been highly trained and offer the most education for patients on bariatric surgeries. Also, insurance plans work really well with the centers. My Dr is one if the top in CT and my process went very smooth with the center. Google the bariatric centers of excellence. Doctors that are not part of them I'm sure are just fine but the centers for excellence have great resources.

    10 days post op?

That's awful? Is your Dr. A bariatric center for excellence dr? Just curious. My clears were only two days post surgery, then I went to liquids for a week now I'm on mushy foods. I can't imagine being on clears for 3 weeks after surgery.

    10 days post op?

I'm having the same issue. I had protein Water today so I managed to get in 70 grams today. I'm just having the same issue. The scale has stayed the same for a week and I'm thinking its because I'm not eating enough and whatever I do eat, my body is storing. I'm going to be two weeks Wednesday.

    10 days post op?

I did fine. I didn't eat, and just sipped Water with lime. I'm not eating enough either. My scale hasn't moved in4 days. It's so upsetting. I see the doctor on Wednesday so hopefully it will be fine. It's hard this time of year. I work in an industry where I'm constantly entertaining clients and I have an event tomorrow night. It's very stressful and everyone notices that I'm not consuming wine. I've been just telling people I've been under the weather.... Good luck thru the holidays! I'm trying so hard. I'm able to tolerate everything. Honestly the only difference is I get full faster but I don't feel any different right now besides the fact I'm following instructions on what to eat.

    One week post op.

Hi there, I'm a week and two days post surgery and I feel the same. I also had the hernia repair and I'm really uncomfortable too. I think it's normal but It might be comforting to know someone else feels the same. I'm really tired to. I'm trying to take it easy.
  10. I really like the Atkins advantage. I'm addicted to the mocha latte shake. It's 15g protein, 1g sugar, 160 calories and 2g net carbs. I tried the muscle milk... Vomit. I also tried EAS and the strawberry wasn't bad but overall the advantage ones are the best. I also had syntax double cookie and its way to watery. Yuck. I lost 13 pounds by doing the Atkins for 14 days. At least try it, you can buy them in a 4 pack for 5.99 and if you hate them, throw it away and you haven't wasted a lot of money.

    10 days post op?

I know everyone has a different regiment to follow. Hard boiled eggs are on my mushy list. I didn't mean to imply I eat eggs while eating soup LOL. I'm at the party and not drinking anything other than water with lime! Thanks everyone for your help.
  12. I was banded on 11/28 and had a hernia repair too which caused me to stay an extra day in the hospital. I started having strong pain in that area last night. I called the Dr today and he wanted me to go to the ER. I promised if the pain persisted, I'd go tomorrow. I'm wondering if anyone has had the same issue with hernia repair. Overall I feel ok with the exception of the pain in that area.
  13. Congrats! That's a huge success! I'm very happy for you.
  14. Hi all, I'm 5 days post op and feeling pretty good with the exception that I'm not hungry at all. Each day I struggle to get enough calories in. I've been averaging about 300-400 a day. I'm drinking so much water that I'm not hungry at all. I drink fluids and I feel like I've eaten a holiday dinner? Overall I'm down 16 pounds since I started the pre-op liquid. Any suggestions?

    5 Days Post Op

Thanks everyone! Good to know I'm "normal". Lol!
  16. Have you thought about low fat deviled ham? I believe you get it in the canned chicken/tuna aisle at the grocery store and its spreadable. I remember my mother use to make sandwiches from it. Maybe since that's already made to eat it might taste ok? I'm a few days away from mushey foods so guess I better start thinking about it. Also what about Tuna with lemon juice mashed real fine? That might be good too.

    Today Is The Day!!!!

That's funny my liquid diet allows soup and other liquids like watered down oatmeal, cream of wheat and low fat soup. I had a can of tomato soup made with skim milk for dinner. It filled me up beyond being full but if your dr's diet doesn't allow it, I wouldn't do it. Every doctor is so different. Good luck!

    Today Is The Day!!!!

Glad you are doing well. I'm on day three and I didn't need any pain meds since I was released yesterday. I am however shocked at how little I'm unable to eat. I'm in liquids and I ate a yogurt and felt like I ate an entire Thanksgiving dinner. It took me almost 6 hours before I could add soup. Getting all the liquids in is tough too. Just so full. The gas has subsided but still feel really bloated. Good luck everyone!

    Nauseaus

I'm glad, they don't want you getting dehydrated so better safe than sorry. Hope you feel better soon. I know by staying that extra day it helped me get the fluids I needed.

    Nauseaus

I've been the same. The zofran should help. The phenagran will knock you out but that will also help with the nausea. I know it feels really difficult now. Hang in there.

    Banded Yesterday

I never vomited but I had really bad nausea. I'm on Clear liquids and I had some shake and it's going ok. My first day I wasn't allowed to have anything because of my hernia repair. Of course now I'm hungry but it passes as soon as I have some tea or shake. Good luck to everyone who was banded recently.

    Banded Yesterday

glad you had a better time than i did. I literally just got home. spent 2.5 days in the hospital I had a lot of nausea and they didn't want to send me home in case i couldn't keep fluids in. He said he has become a bit more aggressive in stitching the band in place which causes a tighter affect. I'm just glad to be home. Glad you did well, and look forward to us all feeling a bit better than we do right now.

    Newly Banded Too

Maddy, I've never tasted anything that rancid in my life. Yes they gave me a mouth sponge and the sink because it was just awful. I think that's why I've been feeling so nauseous and sick today. I couldn't put anything up to my lips all day, I feel like a truck has hit me square in the diaphragm. I am really starting to feel depressed about this, I just want to feel better!
