Friends With Benefits? How Do You Feel About It?

Recommended Posts

shoot me now! damn if a female asked it would be totally different!

Didn't offend me at all. If it's just about sex, sure why not if neither is not in another relationship. But you have to be honest with each other.

I was in a "friends with benefits" relationship for about a yr.

If you both go into it with no strings and keep it real than I think it is ok.

Yeah. This. Why risk losing a good friend?

Although I don't agree with the people who imply a person doesn't value theirselves just because they have this type relationship. Some people don't want, or have time, for more.

After my husband and I spilt, I was NOT looking for another relationship. I did however meet the most amazing guy, sweet, loving, intelligent, handsome and while there was sexual chemistry, we both realised early on that there were no romantic feelings developing. So we enjoyed each other's company sexually occasionally without the 'strings' of a relationship. We would meet up for dinner and a gossip every now and again about his love life and mine, and about 50% of the time, we'd end up in bed, and usually end up staying up after watching a movie, or playing boggle on my iPad. Other times we'd split a bottle of wine, or go to a pub and just laughed with each other, and that was fun too.

And now I'm partnered with someone I do have romantic feelings for, and I'm still friends with the first guy, because we both knew early on we would be great friends, and could have a sexual relationship, without it becoming more. When I met my current partner, we didn't even talk about it, the sexual stuff just stopped dead. As consenting adults, it worked for us and it was fun to boot. And I certainly DON'T suffer from self esteem issues. I'd rather be with someone like him, who I cared about, than a one night stand any day.

I'm in the boat that if you are truly "friends" with benefits then that is a relationship, no? I mean it would be considered some sort of open relationship. I don't mean to comment on the personal relationships of anyone here but I feel a lot of times when people refer to friends with benefits they're not really sincere about the friends part. If it is someone that you would hangout with even if you weren't intimate and on top of that you ARE intimate then that's kind of how I define romance.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
