I'm 5 months post op, and is having the most periods that ive had in ten years! I've only had 10-12 in the last ten years now I've had four out of the last five months, is wondering if anyone else has had hormonal changes? Now I'm scared that I may have boobooed! Not thinking that I'm fertile once again and not using any protection! Now I'm actually ovulating, should I consult with ob on getting on some kinda of birth control until I'm at least a year post op?

If you don't want to get pregnant right now, I'd definitely get on some birth control ASAP. Band babies are very common!

I just started taking birth control pills last month for this very reason. No babies for me, I'm done! LOL

One of my surgery centers guidelines was no pregnancy for a year to allow body time to heal.

I was 50 and still having regular cycles....but the lap band surgery kicked my hormones into a frenzy and sent me into early menopause overdrive. I haven't had a period since I was banded. My GYN said it was my bands gift to me...

So the answer is yes... Surgery can effect your hormones

I went over 18 years with no period, then I got my band and have a period ever since. Crazy how quickly that works!! Yes, birth control for sure! Give your band a year is what I hear!
