Lap Band Buddy Under 40

Recommended Posts

Im glad you're doing we'll and that you feel young' date=' but I disagree, age is not only a number. I made this post bc I wanted to speak to people in my age group, not a parental figure. People closer to my age like to share and listen rather than just tell people what they should think, feel, and do. I don't think you're old in any way, but the way I relate to people is MUCH different than you.[/quote']

Seriously? I'm

Only 34, five years older than you. I don't think I'm old as your thread says lb buddy under 40. Anyway clearly we do relate to people differently. Good luck with your journey...

If anyone can take out the time to explain to me what plication is?

From the web....

Laparoscopic Gastric Plication, involves sewing one or more large folds in your stomach. During the Laparoscopic Gastric Plication the stomach volume is reduced about 70% which makes the stomach able to hold less and may help you eat less. There is no cutting, stapling, or removal of the stomach or intestines during the Gastric Plicaiton. The Gastric Plication may potentially be reversed or converted to another procedure if needed.

I had it done at the same time as the Lapband surgery. It's still considered a new procedure so many insurances don't cover it or doctors don't offer it.

Thank you Tara-U, I've heard it mentioned a few times and wanted to see what I was missing out on. I'm so excited I finally got a date of 3/18 yay! But my doctor never mentioned plication, maybe it's not offered by his office.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
