Unladylilke Gas (serious question)

I was banded last Thanksgiving week and have only one problem: terrible gas. I never had gas before being banded and I never had the gas shoulder pains others have right after surgery. But every day, shortly after lunchtime, my abdomen starts bloating and rumbling. I used to try to hold it in until I got home but, the past month or so, it's gotten so bad that I cant. So I go to the ladies room; the gas is so explosive that people on other floors have commented on it. I'm mortified (no one at work knows I'm banded). I use Gas-X but it doesnt work totally and I dont want to have to use it everyday for the rest of my life anyway.

I'm eliminated dairy (which I was able to eat pre-banding) and all other foods known to cause gas. I dont drink carbonated beverages. But I still have large amounts of explosive gas every day. Does anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions?

How tight are you? I have found that when I am more restricted I am unable to burp...and it has to come out the other end. This is one of the complications they just gloss over during the presentation. Sorry you're having trouble.

when i first met soon to be DH i had good restriction. about 7 months later i went 1 year without ANY restriction. during that year my burps became AMPLIFIED. i tried to cover it up and excuse myself but there really wasnt much i could do. i would tell calvin that 'its my band' he of course thought it was me being comfortable with him and letting it fly....TO THE TUNE OF A 10 YR OLD! he even started burping louder, his way of showing me that he *knows* i can control it then he would laugh and say 'its my band' *shakes head* he has RNY!!!... lol...so now that i am restricted again i cant burp to save my life and i TOTALLY am giving him hell about teasing me for my uncontrollable burps...

now that i am tighter, i AM rumbly in the tummy (like i should have to run to the bathroom) all day but so far i havent *noticed* anything more than usual actually coming out gas wise.

i HAVE had problems with constipation like you wouldnt believe but i am 100% positive thats from ATKINS and sugar free CANDY. 2 things i will NEVER touch again!

I get gas too,but I had bad gas pre banding too, it runs in my family lol so does diverticulitis! When its painful I take gasx, I want to try beano but have not yet. Otherwise my family are use to explosive women :D
