Hi I just got banded on the 3rd and I find myself weighing everyday lol I just wanted to see how everyone else did it like when like one a week once month and what time in the day when is the best to weight I know I'm probably being silly but I just want to stay on top of it so I can see results :)

i was banded on oct 5...and i havent weighed myself yet...i know that i've lost weight since the surgery as my rings slide on very easily!! but i also know that my stomach is still very swollen. my post op visit with surgeon is oct 15,my plan is to weigh myself that morning....by then, all the swelling will have gone down(hopefully!)....and i'll see a weight loss.

Ya know, this is a very touchy subject because so many bandsters have different point of views when it comes to the scale.

Personally, I weigh in once a week. There isn't really a wrong or right way when you should get on the scale. Its what you feel comfortable doing. Keep in perspective when weighing yourself daily, the numbers will change too. So, you really have to be mentally ready to handle the highs and the lows.

Now, I will also add that since you are 'newly' banded you should not be doing this. Your body now is going to take around 4-6 weeks to heal and is going through so many changes. Remember you have a brand new stomache now and your main focus is to 'heal'.

Best of luck on your new journey,

You will slowly get used to the idea of having longer periods of time between weigh-ins because sometimes you just wont loose...I like to weigh myself in the mornings before I eat anything and after the morning call :)

FYI - You home scale vs Dr scale may be different... sometimes it varies 5lbs and I find it irritating. Try and weigh yourself with the same clothes/lack of to be consistent.

Personally, I weigh myself daily but I do NOT recommend it. It gets discouraging to not see the scale move, or sometimes fluctuate

Gotta get outta this habit...

I think many people say weighing once a week is good

Hint: Weigh yourself first thing in the morning with the same amt of clothes on everyday (like naked, or jammies). After you potty. The first 2 yrs, I weighed in once a week. Now, I weigh almost everyday! I like to nip it in the bud when I gain anything. I don't recommend it tho.

Good luck!

I try to stick to once a week, in the mornings after I use the bathroom... I get the best results then and I feel better about myself! But like previously said, docs scale is always more, especially with more clothes on.

Do what feels best to you!

I weigh once a week (Banded 6/19). Funny thing is I weigh less on the Drs scale than on mine at home. I have to travel for the Doc so I can't weigh and then go so I know what the total difference is.

Good Luck on your journey!

Oh that finicky scale, it can really mess with you.....

I try (key word...try) to weigh once a week. I also take measurements once a month. When the scale doesn't move, the inches often do!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
